She watched, and his gaze kept flicking toward her. “Do I have a smudge on me?”

Denith chuckled and flicked his wrist again. “No. I just can’t believe my mate is in the same room with me. When we turn from light to dark Elite, the chances of us finding our mates plummet dramatically. A beta or normal omega just will not do. All of the Elite omegas were dead. So we had to wait until they showed up again. I didn’t have to wait as long as Teyval, but the waiting was difficult. Now, the waiting is days instead of decades, but it is still not easy, so I am going to work on satisfying your other appetites.”

She chuckled, and the stuff on the stove was set aside while the cutting board saw more action.

When he finished his kitchen frenzy, a large platter was set on the counter, and Teyval walked her toward the food.

Flatbread was set out next to the platter, and Denith put a washbowl and towel down, explaining what they were.

She washed her hands, tore off some bread, and then used the pocket she created to get a wedge of the chopped everything.

Denith was watching her as she popped the bite into her mouth, chewed, nodded, and said, “Thank you.”

He beamed. “You like it?”

“I am eating it. Once we are settled somewhere, I would like to lay in some of my work supplies.”

Denith cocked his head. “Work supplies?”

“Pizzas. Burritos. Things that emerge from a microwave ready to eat.” She kept eating as the others moved to join her.

Denith frowned. “I am going to work on your diet.”

“My cholesterol is a little high, but that is from lack of activity.” She shrugged. “It goes down when I start exercising.”

The food was disappearing rapidly, but she had enough. The mix of spices wasn’t something she was used to, so she got herself a glass of water and watched them finish things off.

She started poking around the kitchen, located the small pantry, and scored some cookies.

She watched them discuss ingredients with Denith as she crunched into the first cookie. It was the sound of her chewing that made his gaze snap toward her.

“Seriously?” He rushed up to her and tried to grab the packet.

She surrounded the cookies with one of her silvery shields. “No. My cookies.”

He paused. “You didn’t get enough food?”

“It was good, but it was all new. So, I ate enough to be polite and then sought something familiar.”

He sighed and caressed her cheek. “So, I am going to have to work at this?”

“Yup. I am not a foodie. I eat to not pass out, and if I can keep the meal and cookies down, I will consider it a win. My body hasn’t been great about digesting food recently.” She shrugged. “Of course, until today, I was transparent when I wasn’t focusing. I don’t know what my body was doing. It was a good thing that I started this whole thing chubby. My beta body has lost at least thirty pounds.” She chuckled. “I am guessing that this one is hollow.”

“So, you are attracted to junk food?”

“High-calorie food. I am hoping to keep my calorie intake up while I adjust to this.” She waved a hand down her body, and the shirt tugged to one side. She sighed and flipped it over the breast that had peeked out.

Denith frowned. “What have you been living on?”

She held up one finger, walked out of the kitchen, headed upstairs, and got her phone. There was enough of a charge for this purpose. She headed into the kitchen and called Nisha on speaker phone.

“Hey, Nisha.”

“Turtle! Oh my god. Where are you? Are you okay?”

“I am okay. Um, my mates have been found, and I am with them. I am doing better. About six foot eight and feeling pretty good.”

“When can I visit with you?”
