She grinned and hung up.

Nisha stared at her. “Buddy? You called a dark elf buddy?”

“It was that or sport.”

Byron laughed. “Home in three minutes.”

Nisha looked around. “Wow. Fancy area.”

“We are staying in another triad’s guesthouse. Keres is amazeballs,” she muttered and bit her lip. The third was panicking and scrambling for power. He was trying to get the stolen energy back, but she had shrunk their connection to almost nothing.

She sighed in relief when they got back to the property and the car pulled toward the carriage house. The moment that the car stopped rolling, she unbuckled and sprinted for the guesthouse to check on Denith.

Denith was a little grey, but he held his arms out as she thudded into his embrace. “I am okay, Turtle. But he’s coming. I can feel him.”

She nodded. “Me, too. I put the fear of me into the Elite in the hospital.”

“Excellent.”

She turned her head and looked at Teyval. “No sign of him yet?”

“Not yet. You are feeling better?”

Myrtle smiled and left Denith to walk into Teyval’s embrace. “You tell me.”

He wrapped her in his arms and held her, breathing her in. “Byron said you threatened the Elite with death or reduction to alpha.”

“Yeah. I thought beta would have been a step too far, but I can do that, too.”

He looked at her and smiled. “It’s always the quiet ones.”

“That’s what Byron said.” She grinned. “I have my computer again. Very happy.”

“Prepared to do battle?”

“I am prepared to deal with whatever is tearing space right behind Denith.” She pushed away and ran back to Denith, pushing him out of the way as an arm pushed into the space, followed by a man with snowy hair, silvery grey skin, and an unconscious woman on his left side. His eyes were deep red and wild.

“Denith. I need your energy to save our omega.” His voice broke.

Myrtle shook her head. “No, you don’t.”

“I don’t know who you are, but get out of my way. I need my third.”

She held up her hand and reached out to him. She pulled all the power from him and rushed forward when he dropped to the ground silently. Myrtle pulled the woman away and looked around her person. The book was tapped to her skin on her back. Myrtle pulled the book away from her skin and felt the power humming in it. She tucked the book into the back of her sweatshirt.

“What are you doing?” Byron asked.

“What I am for. Manipulating connections.”

She reached through the newcomer and cut the connection to the girl. She was white-haired, green-eyed, and looked sweet. She was also a standard beta.

She looked at the newcomer and turned back to the girl. She tapped her on the cheek.

The girl blinked and leaned back. “What are you?”

“I am an Elite omega. Now, what are you?” She looked at her. “I know you are a member of the stronghold concubine corp, but did you set out to kill me with knowledge, or was it assigned to you?”

She felt something and kept going.
