There was a burst of surprised excitement on the other end of the call. Myrtle could hear the tone from across the room.

“Um, six foot seven, white hair, pearl skin, eyes that swing through four different colours. Fashion sense of a frat boy.”

Myrtle looked down and shrugged. “He’s not wrong. I just realized they cut open my sweatshirt to try and get at my veins. Fuckers.”

Byron smiled. “We will get you a new sweatshirt.”

“Cool. So far, the benefits of this situation are survival, food, and sweatshirts. I would take a quiet space with a television and a comfy desk.”

He smiled. “We can do that, too, but we hope to offer more.”

“Yeah, I know that, but I am not in heat. Plus, despite the fact that I write multiples in bed doesn’t mean I know where all the elbows go. I kind of want to ease into sex if at all possible.”

Teyval said, “Just choose, and we can begin.”

“I am afraid of hurting someone’s feelings.” She was honest.

The guys paused, and Toros completed his call. “Don’t worry about that. We aren’t wired that way. A favourite is inevitable.”

She looked around at the matte-black features. “Fine. Teyval. Then Byron, then Denith, and then Toros.”

Denith raised is brows. “Interesting. Why those two?”

“They are calmer.” She shrugged. “Calm is my favourite thing, and they both have it in abundance.”

Understanding dawned in Denith’s eyes.

Byron bowed and took her hand to kiss her knuckles. “I like your choice criteria.”

She grinned. “Thought you might.”

Teyval came around, picked her up, and set her on the counter. He kissed her with all the care and patience of the first kiss they had shared. She held onto him and worked her hands up his shirt to loop them around his neck. She surrendered to the taste of him and let it relax and arouse her at the same time. Denith laughed and announced that he was going to make something to eat.

At one point, he came close to them, and Teyval just gripped her hips and moved her down the counter.

Chapter Six

Myrtle was feeling distinctively warm, and the reference to poured honey in the limbs made sense. She wanted nothing more than to feel what happened next, but Denith loomed in next to them and murmured, “Dinner will be ready in five minutes. Wine?”

Teyval gave a husky, “Yes, please.”

Byron set the table, and Toros was still on the phone for business matters. His disappearance was only accepted because he now had an omega, and folks just assumed that he had been screwing her for weeks. Myrtle didn’t care. It wasn’t like she would meet any of them.

Teyval helped her off the counter and walked to the dining room, holding her chair and then scooting in next to her. It was amusing to use the word scooting for a guy that big, but that was the only way to describe it.

Denith smiled as he set the main course on the table. “I admit I was surprised that you were willing to take any of us this soon. You two are adorable and very well-suited.”

“The puppy pile helped, so thanks for that.” She snorted. “If Odette didn’t run an all-night coffee shop, I probably wouldn’t have met anyone in time to stay alive.”

Denith frowned. “Who is Odette?”

“One of her mates is called Ark. She’s a friend of Keres’ and Ruby’s. She called for help, and here I am.”

Teyval smiled. “She needs a present.”

“I would say so.”

Toros sighed as he set wine glasses out. “I am done with my calls.”
