He chuffed slightly, and she kissed his cheek.

Ford grinned. “I know that sound.”

Myrtle looked at him. “So do I. Hey, maybe I don’t have to be in the movie. I can just teach someone else to move like I do.”

Ford cocked his head. “You are willing to get them comfortable with him?”

“Yup. I don’t care if they crawl into his pants. He’s still mine.” She smiled. “And I can prove it.”

Teyval chuckled. “Won’t they be surprised.”

Byron snorted and asked, “Are there more candidates today?”

Ford nodded. “Yeah. Three.”

Myrtle was hopeful. “Maybe one of them will be the best match.”

Teyval wrapped an arm around her. “You can hope.”

Ford cleared his throat. “The writer will have to confirm all casting.”

Myrtle shrugged. “Ruby won’t play favourites. This is a project to support charities, after all.”

She swung her legs. “Teyval, put me down.”

He sighed. “It was such a nice day.”

She wrinkled her nose as he set her on her feet. “Play your cards right, and it still could be.”

Byron laughed, and Myrtle went back to sitting in the corner and jotted down ideas and maps on her new tablet.

The next few actresses tried to run lines with Teyval, but they just couldn’t hide the fear. Ford paused one woman and showed her the recording of Teyval and Myrtle. “Try it like this.”

The woman watched the video and blinked. “Is that an elf?”

Ford grinned.

The woman nodded. “Right. Got it.” She took a deep breath and tried again. It was better but still not confident as she got close to Teyval’s tusks.

They thanked her, and notes were made on her performance.

The last six women were shown the sample, and then the auditions were done for the day.

Byron took her tablet and closed it. “Come on, Myrtle.”

She blinked and stood up. “Teyval, fix your face.”

He snorted, and his standard, handsome features returned. “Come on. We are meeting Denith for dinner.”

Dread filled her. “Not in the restaurant?”

“No. He’s at home but a little different.”

“Different, how?”

Ford chuckled. “The involved teams are meeting at my home, and we are going over candidates and trying to figure out who we still need to look for. The sites are being selected, and we have a stage that will be available in nine weeks, so everything is coming together. Dinner will confirm that we have everything lined up, including the crew, makeup, and wardrobe.”

She smiled. “Any chance to have Denith cook, I will take it.”
