Red. Chilli. Brown…

“Is there anything more you require?” the waiter asked.

More?

How could Ipossiblyneed more than this?

“Uh, no,” I said, unsure exactly what I was meant to do with the leftovers.

The waiter nodded and left, his hovercart trailing behind him.

The door shut with a gentleclick.

I dug into my meal, trying out every sauce available.

I cut one slice in half and found it surprisingly stiff — not soggy in the middle as they often were on alien planets.

It was hard to believe fast food joints could be worse than those on Earth but in some waystations someone always managed to succeed at the challenge.

I was halfway through my first slice — and already almost stuffed full — when my communicator rang.

It buzzed in my purse.

I pulled it out and could see from the hollow image that popped up it was my sister, the sister, back on Earth.

I grinned and decided to play a little trick.

I pulled a chair over and placed the device on it just so before rushing back to my seat.

I moved myself into a better position as it was virtually impossible to move the food due to its size.

Once everything was set up exactly how I wanted it, I scooped up a piece of pizza and held it in front of my mouth with zero intention of consuming it.

I answered the call with:

“Hello?”

The holo-image became larger, larger even than the biggest TVs on Earth.

The moment my sister could see me, momentarily distracted by something happening off to one side, her eyes widened and she squealed. “You bitch! YouknowI’m on a diet!”

“Are you?” I said innocently as I bit into the pizza.

Ilovedteasing her when she was struggling with a new diet — and there wasalwaysa new diet and she wasalwaysstruggling with it.

“Are you setting up a franchise?”

I chuckled. “Not quite.”

“Don’t tell me that’s my favorite topping…” she whined.

“Margarita,” I confirmed, taking another bite.

“You hateful bitch! I can’t believe I bothered calling you!”

“What’s up?” I said nonchalantly, dipping my fries in two different types of sauce.

“I can’t talk to you when you’re stuffing your face like this. You’re making me hungry.”
