Page 35 of Sworn to the Alien

Thankfully, it was soundproofed.

I wouldn’t want anyone to hear what we were going to talk about.

I began to worry that maybe she wasn’t happy about last night, that somehow I had done something wrong to offend her.

She approached, her hips sashaying side to side in hypnotizing fashion.

My mouth felt dry.

I wished we were back in that hotel room.

Layla checked over her shoulder in the direction of the door, but no one had followed her in. “Would you like something for lunch?” she said, fluttering her eyelashes.

I couldn’t prevent the growl in the back of my throat. “With you? Any time.”

I’d been told the Chi did that a lot — emitting a deep guttural growl in the back of their throats without us even noticing.

It was said to sound like large predators on various alien species planets.

If it was frightening to Layla she didn’t show it.

“Would you like to see my wares, sir?” she said, making a face that made me want to fuck her right then and there.

I ground my teeth and reached toward the basket while glancing toward the glass wall to ensure no one was paying attention.

I reached up and squeezed her ass hard.

She didn’t complain.

“What are you doing here?” I growled. “Not that I’m not pleased to see you, of course.”

“I didn’t like the idea of waiting for you to call me. So I decided to take action into my own hands.”

Into her own hands…

I would give her something in her hands…

“I feel the same way,” I said. “I was just busy this morning or I would have contacted you already. If I had a few minutes to spare, I would have arranged—”

She shook her head and raised the basket in front of my face as cover while she pressed her finger against my lips. “You don’t have to apologize for anything, Governor. I just wanted to let you know youneverneed to wait. You can have me whenever you want.”

My deep growl kicked up a notch and I was only thankful the meeting room was perfectly soundproof.

Otherwise I would’ve gotten more than a few funny looks.

“When can I see you again?” I said.

“Like I said,” Layla said, leaning in even closer.

The scent of her was so strong I had to lean back or else there was the very real risk I would take her then and there, no matter who was watching.

As the Governor, I could do pretty much anything I wanted on Enchor’s Heart and there wasn’t a single thing anyone could do about it.

But it wasn’t exactly the kind of reputation I wanted.

Especially not after playing it safe for five long years!

This feeling, this sense of excitement, was one I had not felt in a very, very long time.
