"I don't think I have to," he replied, circling me slowly.

It was strange. No matter how many men had tried to appear aggressive or dominant, it never fazed me. I felt like I was being cornered for the first time in forever.

"You're even more beautiful in person," he dared to say.

"You should have come up with something better than that." I shot him down, running my fingers through my hair to give off a look that said I wouldn't let him have his way, quickly.

"That wasn't part of the pickup line, Dr. Hill," he said. "But I'm honored that you've paid me attention. I heard that just the thought of a man flirting with you puts you off."

"If you've heard that much, then you must have heard that I prefer my men bowing," I reminded him. I was enjoying myself.

Most men would go through the beating around the bush method, but he was making his intention as clear as day: he wanted to bed me. But if he came with the mindset that he understood the kind of men I liked and desired, why wasn't he already bending a knee?

"I don't think I fall in the category of men who would be willing to bend," he said as he brought his face closer to mine. "Why would I bend over for you? Do you think you're a master of everyone you see? Do you think it's easy…"

As he started to ask, he slowly lifted his index finger, almost like he was pointing at the base of my neck. "To have everyone into your hands? Do you think you would always get it the way you want it?"

What the hell? Is he challenging me or something?

He leaned closer, whispering in my ear, "You've been taking many steps back…little, doctor."

I've heard that before.

He seemed satisfied with himself and turned to leave. I wasn't going to let him go anywhere. I didn't need to be a psychologist to know someone was trying to beat me at my own game.

"Stop right there," I demanded. He stopped in his tracks, turning to look at me; his face seemed to say,I win.

He may have been the most arrogant man I had ever met, but he wasn't going to be the first to make me tremble.

"Is there a problem, Dr. Hill?" he asked, feigning ignorance of the damage he had caused.

"There's none in particular," I replied, "but I do not appreciate the idea that you have so much confidence while speaking to me."

"Oh, really?" he said as he raised his brow, mockingly.

"Listen, here," I said. I approached him and got within striking range. "I do not know who you are, but don't even think you are any different from the rest of the men I have tamed."

"I wasn't insinuating. I knew, for a definite fact, that I was going to be different," he said and grinned.

Up close, he looked even more familiar, but I was still unable to remember where we had met. It was impossible that I had met someone like him, and I didn't notice.

It doesn't matter who he is, I am going to show him why he belongs on his knees.

"Fortunately for you, I am willing to test that theory," I said and grinned. "This is completely out of character, but you will follow me to the hotel of my choosing."

"Say, please."

"Excuse me?" I scoffed.

"I said…" he responded; his eyes darkened. "Say please."

There it is again! My heart is pounding. Why did that excite me? Who the hell does he think he is?

"Pl…"

No way, me plead.

"I guess that's doing too much," he sighed. "Save the pleading for later. Where are we headed?"
