After bathing, she made me breakfast, which was a first as I had never eaten her cooking.

“Don't expect it to taste fantastic,” she said. “It's just leftover meatloaf.”

“For a wealthy woman such as you, I don't understand why you would cook.”

“I'm not cooking by myself just because I want to, you know,” she said.

“Then why?”

“Dummy,” she murmured and continued eating.

I had no idea what I had done to be called a dummy. Tabitha had been acting a lot differently. She had gotten somewhat softer. If I followed my original plan, I would have used the opportunity to get the organization what it wanted, but I wasn't feeling like it. I didn't feel like doing any of it anymore. The life I had started building with her seemed comfortable. I didn't want that to change.

I had no idea why the organization wanted her hospital; I assumed they wanted profits. And from what I could make out, it wasn't going to affect her much. Even at that, I still didn't feel like doing it.

“Can I come with you?” Tabitha asked, breaking my train of thought.

“What?” I blinked twice. “You want to come with me to Maryland?”

“I… yeah,” looking away. “Is that a problem?”

“No, not really,” I answered. “I don't mind. But…”

“You're supposed to be on a break,” she concluded her statement. “I'm sorry. I don't know why, but I've been clingy a lot these days.”

“I thought I was the only one who noticed.”

“Do you hate me being clingy?” she asked, childishly playing with her fingers as she anticipated my response.

Was Tabitha always like this? From the first time we had reunited at the hospital launch and from the times we had spent at the hospital, she had desired to dominate me at every available opportunity. She was still hostile in most cases, but there was nothing hostile this time.

“You don't have to answer. I know you hate it,” she concluded while laughing.

Shit, I took too long to respond.

“It's different from what you usually portray, but it's not bad,” I explained. “While I like it when you are aggressively dominant, this side of you is oddly relaxing to have around.”

She smiled. It was an excited one.

“Alright, I wouldn't want to intrude on your trip to Maryland,” she said. “You can go alone.”

“You sure you don't want to come?” I asked.

“Positive,” she affirmed. “I have a lot of work to do either way, and you need the break.”

“I see. Thank you for understanding,” I noted and grinned.

We continued our meal in silence. It wasn't awkward, but it was the best breakfast I had ever had.

“It's not too late to change your mind,” I said. “You've already come this far.”

We had arrived at the airport. She insisted on driving me there.

“I don't think it's time for me to change my mind,” Tabitha responded. “I don't have my clothes or anything.”

“Oh well,” I sighed and opened my arms.
