With shaky hands I answered the phone, “Hey you called.”

The other end of the line was silent, but I could hear someone breathing. It was a little noisy, I could tell she just landed in Zurich.

“Tabitha?” I called out.

“Why have you been texting me?” she asked.

“Because I want a chance to explain myself and to ask you to forgive me,” I answered.

“Now that you have me on phone you can go ahead,” she said.

“I would rather meet with you in person and say it,” I told her.

She went silent again considering if she should listen or hang up. It was funny how easy it was to guess what she was thinking.

“I hate the fact that I can tell you're reading my mind right now,” she complained.

“I'm not doing it on purpose,” I assured her.

“Sure, you're not,” she said.

There was another long pause.

“I can't believe I'm doing this,” she sighed. “If you really want to apologize that badly, then come to Zurich. Right now.”

“That's the funny thing. I'm already here,” I answered.

“You booked a flight to Zurich not knowing if I would accept your apology or to see you or not?” she asked in disbelief.

“To be honest, I was worried that you wouldn't let me see you,” I admitted. “It's a ten-hour flight, and I couldn't risk arriving when you wanted to leave.”

“You crazy little… my session ends by three,” she stammered. “I'll see you then.”

“I'll see you too.”

She hung up without saying goodbye, but it was enough progress for me. I knew where the program was being held, and I booked a hotel not too far away.

The trip to Switzerland was a good idea. Like she had mentioned, I wasn't sure if she was going to accept my apology or allow me to see her. The plan was: if she rejected me, I would meet her in person. To think the universe was already working in my favor.

I made my way to the conference. Much to my surprise, a lot of female doctors were in attendance. It was a big event, and every doctor scheduled to speak did well. I'm not saying this to be partial, but Tabitha was the best out of all of them. She captivated her audience with her words and had them eating out of her hands.

This was the alpha female I had fallen in love with.

Her speech ended, and I couldn't see Shawn anywhere. Alex informed me that he had followed her because Capital had promised to agree to the union once they were in Zurich. If luck was on my side, she had yet to agree to anything.

“There you are,” Tabitha said as she found me outside the event hall. “You have a lot of nerve making me look for you like that.”

“I didn't know how I could… never mind, I'm glad you want to see me,” I said. “Do you mind if we go somewhere else?”

“I'm not going anywhere with you, Bruce,” she said as she crossed her arms. “I just want to hear what you have to say, then I will return to my hotel.”

I got straight to the point, “I'm in love with you,”

She was flustered, but as she moved her hair behind her ear, she got over it immediately.

“Is that what you have to say?” she asked.
