“I’ve… never really actively seduced anyone before him.” Them. “Buying stuff like this is new to me.”

“Is it because he’s not adventurous in bed?”

My mind flashed to all the positions and stuff that we had ventured into and had to fight another blush. “No, he’s adventurous. I just mean that in my past relationships, it was never an option. We didn’t make time for variety or each other.”

Maybe Brett was into variety, but it no longer involved me.

“What about now? Is your new guy forcing you to be experimental or…?”

“No, not at all. I want to do this. I like doing this with him.”

“A spiced-up sex life that’s not forced or even needed means you’re on the right track,” Beth said. “I’m glad you’re in a healthy relationship, my dear.”

When she went to another row to choose another set, Jean elbowed me.

“Who’s the lucky fellow, Soph?”

I opened my mouth, then closed it. A hint of sadness came when I realized I couldn’t tell them, even though they were so good to me and I knew I could trust them. I had to honor my promise to the men.

“I’ll tell you when I’m ready, okay? For now, it’s still fairly new and I want to keep it low.”

To my surprise, Jean didn’t seem to mind. She nodded in understanding. But the bigger surprise was how I didn’t realize I had been with my lovers for a few months now and this was no longer new. We had settled into a nice rhythm and I had gotten close to each of them. Sebastian and I acted like best buddies at work, intimate when we could steal private alone time. Rupert and I had them when he took me out on motorcycle runs and we spent time in secluded forest cliffs, just taking in the city lights and talking about whatever came to mind.

And Matthew… Matthew made me feel protected whenever I fell into his bed at night and stayed cuddled until morning.

My hand shook as awareness seeped in that things were no longer just casual between us.

But maybe they weren’t ever casual to begin with.

My odd mood didn’t last as we spent more time in the mall and just hung out. But it wasn’t until I was headed to the restaurant that my excitement kicked in, sending butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I’d bought another set that had a lot of straps and immediately wore it under my clothes, and I couldn’t wait to tease them all day and give them little hints until they caught on. Oh, they would do everything in their power to pretend that things were normal, but I knew it would drive them wild deep inside—and I couldn’t wait until we could be alone again in the apartment and all their pent-up energy could be used on me.

“Or the office,” I found myself muttering. We hadn’t done it in the office again since that first time, and I grew wet at the thought of them dragging me in there and ordering me to keep quiet while they touched me. Could we pull off being quiet and inconspicuous a second time around?

“Sophie!”

My smile was still in place when I heard my name being called. Because of my good mood, it took a while for things to click. Then I slowed down when I finally recognized the voice—a little too late, since I already spotted the figure standing in front of me.

“Brett?”

“Sophie, thank goodness you’re here. I’m so glad I found you.”

It really was Brett, wearing jeans, a shirt, and his signature expensive glasses. I noted that he didn’t look as good as I thought he once did whenever he wore clothes like this, but what was more shocking was how he was here, just a few feet away from my workplace. It felt like a fever dream and my mind was reeling.

“What are you doing here?” I blurted out.

He took a step forward, but something in my expression must have made him stop taking another one. He held out his hands in a grand gesture, his eyes pleading.

“I made a mistake. I want you back.”

I was still reeling, and this only added to the confusion. My mouth was faster than my brain, though, already talking before I could sort out my thoughts.

“Really? After sleeping with my boss and betraying my trust? You want me back just like that?”

At least I was saying smart words, not dumb ones. Brett didn’t lose his pleading look. He shook his head, denying my words.

“It’s not what you think. The moment you saw us in that office, I ran after you. I called you and tried everything I could to reach you. Seeing the empty apartment made me realize how much you mattered to me, and I’ve been trying to look for you ever since.”
