Sliding off the mattress, he tugged me with him, giving my butt a light swat. “Then we’d better get moving so I have enough time for at least one cup of coffee. Gonna need the caffeine to keep me on my toes around you.”

Giggling as I got ready, I felt lighter than I had in years. But my good humor dried up when Toby stopped me at the door, his gray eyes serious as he shook his head and said, “You can’t go out there like that.”

My brows drew together as I glanced down at the jeans and long-sleeved T-shirt I wore. “What’s wrong with my outfit?”

“It’s missing one thing.” He shrugged off his leather vest and slipped my arms into the too-large holes. “You need to wear my cut when we’re not in our room so the guys know you belong to me.”

For such a short statement, he’d said so much. He’d called his room ours even though we’d only spent one night together. He repeated the thing about me belonging to him…without his dick being inside me. And he wanted me to wear his cut, which was a huge thing if television motorcycle clubs were anything to go by.

My heart raced as I licked my suddenly dry lips. “I can do that.”

“That’s my good girl.” His gray eyes filled with approval as he fisted the leather to pull me close and laid a deep kiss on me. “Keep it up, and you’ll earn a sweet reward later.”

I licked the taste of him from my lips. “Mmm, sounds delicious.”

“It will be.” He interlaced our fingers and tugged me into the hallway, locking the door behind us. “For me since I’m not talking about candy.”

That was all of the incentive I needed to be on my best behavior. Not that I’d planned to act like a brat anyway when I’d already promised Gideon that I’d listen to his club brothers.

Toby led me downstairs to the kitchen. I spotted the club president’s wife making breakfast and decided it was the perfect chance to figure out how I could help around here. And maybe even earn a little extra cash since I wouldn’t be working at the bar before I headed back to school. Which I wasn’t looking forward to much now that I’d met Toby.

“Hey, Molly.” When she looked up to smile at me, I asked, “By any chance, do you need some help with cooking or cleaning? If I’m going to be stuck here until stuff gets resolved, you might as well take advantage of having an extra set of hands around here.”

“I’m already pretty much done with breakfast, and one of the prospects will clean up once everyone is finished eating.” She tapped her finger against her chin. “But if you need something to keep you occupied and want to earn a little extra cash since you’re not able to work at Midnight Rebel anymore, I might be able to find some stuff for you to do at Iron Inkworks.”

I’d gotten along well with Molly when we met on Christmas, but her offer and thoughtfulness made me more like her. “That would be amazing. Thank you.”

“Thanks for looking out for Elise, but that won’t be necessary.”

Molly’s eyes showed a mischievous glint as she smiled at Toby. “Oh, really? How come?”

“Because she can help me with plenty of shit in the clinic instead. And we won’t need to worry about outsiders getting a look at her while she’s there since it’s on the compound and not open to the public.”

“Hmm, yes. Good point.” She winked at me. “I’m sure that’s the only reason you want to keep her all to yourself.”

Toby tugged me over to the coffee pot and poured us each a travel mug, waiting while I added cream and sugar to mine before leading me to the door again.

“Hey, Blade,” Molly called as we left the kitchen.

Toby glanced over his shoulder. “Yeah?”

“Maybe you should have her start by doing an inventory of all those tests you have to keep in stock because your club brothers keep falling like flies. Looks like you were wrong about it being contagious.”

Toby heaved a deep sigh, shaking his head as her laughter trailed after us while we made our way out back. When we walked into the clinic, Deviant was already waiting for him, so I waited until he’d replaced the bandage on his arm and we were alone again to ask the question that’d been on my tongue since Molly had teased him.

“What tests was Molly talking about?” My nose wrinkled. “Please don’t say that they’re STD panels because that would be gross.”

“Not even close,” he reassured me with a shake of his head. “As ridiculous as it sounds since the clinic was set up for me to take care of my club brothers, they’re actually pregnancy tests.”

“Ohh.” I giggled.

“Yeah, and I spouted off a bunch of bullshit when Molly needed to take one not too long ago, so I’m sure she’s enjoying the hell out of seeing how I am with you.” He brushed his lips against mine. “But she was right about one thing, I could use your help doing an inventory of all my supplies if you’re up for it.”

I rubbed my palms together. “Give me a laptop to make a spreadsheet, and I’ll be more than ready.”

I kept busy while I spent the day with Toby at the clinic, but I still got a lot of insight into the man I was quickly falling for. He was smart and compassionate—great qualities in a doctor…andboyfriend—but he didn’t take shit from his club brothers. And he liked to spoil me. From the latte, protein box, and cookie he had a prospect run out to get me in the middle of the day to the wad of cash he’d just shoved into my hand.

“What’s this?”
