The president and VP looked amused by their wives' byplay, but that didn’t stop them from tugging them to the bar lining the other side of the room.

Gideon dipped his head to the woman’s ear and murmured, “Stay here. I’ll be right back after I take care of this.”

“Okay,” she whispered.

He glanced at Viper, who jerked his chin in response to whatever unspoken communication passed between them, and I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of club business they’d been handling that had ended up bringing her back to the clubhouse.

I’d never seen my brother with a woman before, so I wasn’t sure how he acted around a girlfriend, but I had a feeling she was important to him. Unfortunately, my curiosity needed to wait for a time when the two most important men in my life weren’t ready to beat the crap out of each other.

Toby stepped in front of me as Gideon strode toward us. Heaving a deep sigh, I briefly considered using one of my self-defense techniques to knock him to the floor since he wouldn’t be expecting me to attack him from behind. But I decided against it since I didn’t want to hurt the big lug when he thought he was protecting me. Instead, I simply moved to his side again and slipped my arm around his waist. Then I held on tight when he tried to move me behind him again.

Smiling up at him, I shook my head. “Gideon would never do anything to hurt me.”

“But can the same be said for my supposed brother?” Gideon growled.

Toby’s body stiffened next to me, and I stroked my hand down his back. “That’s bullshit, Storm. You know damn well that I wouldn’t hurt Elise.”

“I thought I did, but now I’m not so sure. She’s fifteen years younger than you and had just been injured when I left only a week ago. You’re the one who treated her after that bastard ran her off the road, for fuck’s sake,” Gideon roared, his pulse throbbing in his temple. “Isn’t it part of the oath you took as a doctor that you’re not supposed to get involved with a patient?”

“I do a lot of fucking shit for the club that goes against the Hippocratic oath, and I’ve never heard you complain.”

“Yeah, well…sisters are off-limits. She’s family, remember?”

“I get that guys think that’s a rule, but that never stopped a Silver Saint when he found his old lady,” Molly muttered.

Dahlia nodded. “Yeah, Arya, Rylee, and Wendy would’ve been sorely disappointed if their men hadn’t ignored what their brothers said about staying away from them.”

Ignoring the peanut gallery, Gideon gestured toward the cut that I was wearing. “She’s not just your sister, Storm. She’s my woman.”

“Been gone a whole week, Blade, but she doesn’t have your property patch on her. So your claim isn’t permanent,” my brother disagreed.

I hated that my brother was right. Toby hadn’t given me a vest like the ones Molly and Dahlia wore. He hadn’t told me he loved me. And we hadn’t even talked about what would happen with us when I left for school. I should’ve brought it up myself, but I was too happy having him all to myself to rock the boat.

“First, you said you’d only been gone a week, and it’s a whole week. You can’t have it both ways,” Gideon argued.

Sheila walked in the front door with Tank right behind her and rolled her eyes when she saw how Gideon and Toby glared at each other. “We’re gonna need to come up with a better system for getting these done.” Her gaze darted toward the woman watching my brother with worried eyes, and she sighed. “I have a feeling that making things crystal clear even a few days sooner will help prevent situations like this in the future.”

She got close enough to toss a plastic bag to Toby. Then she beamed a smile at me. “Get that sad look off your face, girlie. Your brother is gonna know exactly how serious your man is in just a second. That’ll settle this little squabble in a jiffy. Without any bloodshed, which is a good thing since Blade is the one who’d have to take care of any injuries, and he doesn’t look too happy with Storm right now.”

“Because he’s acting like an asshole, and I don’t want him to ruin this moment for Elise.” Turning toward me, he tugged on his cut to pull me close and gave me a quick kiss. Then he dipped his hand into the bag and murmured, “I was hoping you’d want to trade in my cut for this.”

My eyes widened when he took out a smaller version of his leather vest with the words “Property of Blade” stitched on the back. “You want me to be your old lady?”

“Not just that.” He dropped to a knee in front of me. “My wife and mother of my children, too. I love you so damn much, Elise. Can’t imagine how empty my life would’ve been if your brother hadn’t carried you through those doors so you could steal my heart with just one look.”

“Shit, I had no idea Blade could be so damn romantic,” Whiskey muttered.

“Take notes for when you find a woman of your own,” Molly suggested, making Whiskey grumble under his breath as he shook his head.

Blade glared at them before returning his attention to me. “You want me to pretend as though I’m gonna need an answer, baby? Or should I just slide my ring on your finger and put on your vest? Because you’re already mine.”

“How about I just tell you yes?” I whispered, holding out my trembling hand so he could put the gorgeous diamond solitaire on my finger. Then I shrugged out of his cut so he could swap it out with the leather vest I never wanted to take off.

“There, now you look even more perfect than you always do.” His eyes heated as he used my property patch to pull me against his chest. “Except there’s something else you still need to tell me, baby.”

“There is?” I blinked up at him, trying to figure out what he meant until I realized that I hadn’t shared my feelings with him yet. “Oh, that.”

“Yeah, that,” he growled, giving my butt a soft smack. “Now be a good girl and give me those three little words I’ve been dying to hear from your sweet lips.”
