Olivia giggled. “This really must seem stuffy to you.”

I stiffened. To me? What was she implying?

“Oh, you’re right.” Caroline picked up a little bell. “I am so much in this house, I forget young people don’t sit around drinking tea with a pinky extended.” She leaned closer to me and lowered her voice. “Actually, neither do we, usually, but we kind of wanted to celebrate you, and we thought it would be fun. We can do something else. Do you play poker?”

My jaw dropped.

“Or video games?” Olivia winked at me. “We have a PlayStation 5 in the game room, and we can just leave this here and go get rowdy.”

I looked from one of the women to the other. Get rowdy? “I-I. Maybe later? This is nice, really.” The multitiered silver tray that still sat on the cart held all sorts of mini treats. “If you don’t mind a newbie to tea parties. I’m glad to sit here and watch my mates running together. It’s a view I don’t normally get.”

“They are beautiful, aren’t they?” Caroline peered out the window. “Asher has always been a little self-contained. It does my heart good to see him so happy with the two of you. You have our gratitude.”

My own heart swelled at the praise. “He’s kind and considerate and so protective of us. You raised a good man.”

“Yes.” Olivia nodded. “All of our children have very good qualities, but Blaze…he struggles. We fought to keep him at the Urban Academy, near his brother, but they can be a little stuffy about the rules there, and so…”

“Speaking of…” Caroline pointed toward the woods. “I believe he’s joined the run.” As we watched, a third wolf bounded up to Asher and bumped him with a shoulder, and then the trio raced off into the distance. “It’s good to see them together.”

For the next hour or two, we sat and nibbled the little cakes and sandwiches while below us, my mates and brother-in-law ran and rolled around and appeared and disappeared from our view. I would always have a flicker of jealousy at their ability to shift and run as wolves. Sure, I could transform others, but not myself. Could Valentina make me something else?

I wasn’t sure, but I doubted it.

Still, it was a pretty good afternoon. Especially after I spilled tea and my mothers-in-law laughed and mopped at the tablecloth as if it was no big deal. Yes, much better trip than I’d expected. I hoped it was for Raven as well. She seemed to be having fun in the forest, but maybe not so much in the house.

Chapter Ten

Valentina

My mates were nothing if not thorough and, when we all went to bed together, it was a rare night that nothing happened. It was also kind of crazy that I was able to walk some mornings because not only was I the center of their attention, but I didn’t know when to say when. I’d challenge any woman to be able to say no to three of the most handsome men on the planet who adored her and whom she adored as well. I certainly didn’t have that ability.

Maybe one day when we were old and gray.

But that day was not tonight.

I never even got that nice hot shower Fox had suggested. Rather, he poured me back in bed among the warm bodies of the Bishop and Storm before climbing in as well. His kisses did what no shower could, taking the tension from my limbs and making me forget whatever it was I had been so tense over. Their scents were also magical that way, each captivating in its own way but blending to surround me, strengthening as the other two awoke from their slumber. There had been times when one had made love to me while the others remained asleep—or at least I thought they were asleep, perhaps I was wrong in that—but this was not to be one of them. Six big hands could cover a lot of skin. I had heard of erogenous zones but had a theory that just about anywhere my mates touched automatically became one.

And, since we’d been together, I’d learned to distinguish each one’s kisses and caresses even in the darkest nights. Fox cupped my chin and continued to kiss me while Storm, behind me, stroked my back and down to my buttocks, fingers massaging into the globes while his lips nibbled at sucked at my nape. Bishop adjusted my position so he could lie on his side, one of my legs on his shoulder and open me to his questing mouth. I would say he was the best at this, but they were all very good at bringing me to orgasm with lips and tongue and teeth. They just were different at it, in ways I couldn’t explain but could certainly enjoy.

The streetlight that would have offered some light if the curtains had been open was blocked by them tonight, but while I loved seeing my mates gorgeous bodies, this was great, too. With no visuals to rely on, my other senses took over. The rasps and sighs of our breathing, the smell of pheromones thickening in the air. Their touch on me, but as well my hands reaching for any part of them I could, their skin rough silk under my fingertips.

“Mate,” Bishop crooned, rising up to lie me on my back and fitting his cock to my entrance. After his attention, I was wobbling on the edge of coming already and the first thrust took me over the edge, tumbling into ecstasy. He held still, waiting until my breathing evened before driving in again and again while I clung to my other two mates who were still touching and kissing me.

When Bishop thrust for the final time, the heat of his cum filled my core. He pulled out and moved to the side to be replaced by Fox, and then by Storm. It wasn’t always like this, all three, one after another, but I treasured however it went.

They knew how to keep from hurting me while taking me to the absolute limit of what I could stand without passing out. Or rather, after a couple of love overdoses, they’d learned. I actually hadn’t minded the faint, but it had scared them, so they tried not to go there.

After the last of them had finished, they gathered me into a nest of their warm bodies, their arms and legs, and I drifted off, prepared not to awake again until morning.

I floated in and out of dreams, most of which involved the sweetness of making love with my mates, until my phone dragged me out of dreams. Not wanting my mates to wake up, I eased one arm free and silenced the device before glancing at the screen.

“Who is it?” Bishop asked close to my ear. So much for not disturbing people. But that also made me think that my cousin wouldn’t have called at this time of night if it wasn’t important. And probably alarming.

“Onyx.” I climbed out of bed and reached for the fluffy robe I kept nearby. “I’ll go take it in the living room.”

“All right.” He yawned. “Want me to come with you?”

“No. I’ll fill you in after.” Preferably in the morning when they’d all had at least a few hours of rest. I’d noticed shifters seemed to need less than I did, but they still needed some.
