“Dammit!” Nate groans loudly as he stops in the doorway. “You two really need to find a room.”

I burrow my head in Quinn’s neck and murmur: “Morning, Nate.”

“Morning, Vanessa.” He bypasses us and goes straight for the coffee machine. “I mean it. I don’t need to see this shit first thing in the morning,”

Quinn turns his attention to his friend. “What crawled up your ass?”

“Nothing. I just don’t want to see you screwing on the counter. I have to eat there.” Nate’s eyes dart to me. “No offense, Ness.”

Quinn grabs a towel and throws it at Nate. “You eat in the cafeteria, asshole.”

“Well, maybe I would eat at home if you didn’t turn our kitchen counter into your bed. Ever thought of that?”

Quinn shrugs. “It didn’t motivate you before, so I don’t see it changing now. Besides, I like Ness sleeping in my bed.”

I roll my eyes. “You do know that sounds like some possessive bullshit, right?”

“Maybe.” Quinn’s grin widens, his fingers clenching tighter around me. “But you like it.”

His eyes twinkle with amusement as he stares at me with that slightly wicked smile I love so much.

“If you lived together, she’d sleep in your bed every night. Ever thought of that?” Nate asks, looking at us over the rim of his cup.

Quinn raises his brow, his attention turning to his roommate. “Ready to get rid of me? Who’ll pay half the rent then?”

“I’ll find somebody. One of the requirements will be no significant other allowed.”

“Significant other?”

“Hey, I’m not homophobic. I’m all for love is love, bro.”

“As long as they don’t love on the kitchen counter?”

“Exactly!”

Quinn rolls his eyes. “Hear that? He’s saying we’re cramping his style.”

“How many times did I ask you to stay at my place?”

Quinn and I haven’t brought up the topic of moving in, although we’ve all but lived together these past few months. Some nights he spent at my place, but more often than not, we’d stay at his place, and I’d just go back to my apartment to change for work in the morning once he’d gone to work.

“But my bed is bigger,” Quinn protests.

I pat him on the chest. “Of course it is, babe.”

“It is, and the mattress is better too.”

“What are you trying to say, McLannister?” I cross my arms over my chest and raise my brow at him. “That I should get a new bed?”

“I’m just pointing out the advantages of sleeping in my bed. Good night’s rest is important after all.”

“If you get any sleep, sure.”

“Hey, you weren’t complaining last night when…”

I press my mouth against his to stop him from continuing just as Nate groans yet again. “TMI, dude. TMI.”

“You’re just jealous because you wake up to an empty bed every morning.”
