It was perfect, and I’d never felt better.

If I allowed myself to think about it, I did wind up feeling slightly concerned about my lack of judgment over the last twenty-four hours or so.

Fortunately, after being curled up with Griffin while we watched movies, and after kissing him last night, I found I wasn’t thinking about much other than the way I felt, the way Griffin made me feel. And that was a far better place for my mind to be.

So, I didn’t sit and think about whether I was making the wrong decisions or doing something I’d ultimately regret. I liked where I was, and I felt good for the first time in a very long time.

Wanting to see him, I tipped my chin up to look at his face. I was surprised to see he was already awake and looking down at me. When his eyes connected with mine, he smiled and said, “Good morning, sugar.”

I returned the smile. “I didn’t leave and go back to my cushioned bench in the lodge last night.”

Yes, I’d spent the night with Griffin in his camper.

We hadn’t discussed it. It just, sort of, happened. And it was the best night of sleep I’d had in… forever, maybe?

“You did not,” Griffin confirmed. “But I’m willing to bet you slept much better.”

My hand on the arm that was draped over his side began drifting up and down his back. “It was the best.”

His hold on me tightened, and he nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck as he shifted us, so he was on his back, and my body was on top of his.

I happily went, loving the way it felt to be inside his embrace. Griffin could kiss, but nobody had ever held me the way he did. It was magical.

After pressing several kisses against the skin along my neck, he asked, “Are you hungry?”

I pulled my head back slightly so I could look at him. Unable to contain the happiness I felt, I smiled brightly at him and asked, “Are you going to cook me breakfast?”

“How do you like your eggs?” he countered.

“What are my options?”

Griffin chuckled. “Do you doubt my capabilities?”

Pressing my lips together, recalling just how good he was at the things that mattered, I shook my head. “Not at all. I just don’t know what you have here, so I’m unsure if I could request my favorite way to eat eggs.”

“Try me,” he urged.

“An egg and cheese sandwich,” I revealed.

“Are you okay with that on regular toast?”

I grinned. “It sounds perfect.”

“Good. Now, give me a kiss, so I can get on making that for you.”

As talented as he was at kissing, and given that he was about to make me breakfast, I couldn’t deny him. I dropped my mouth to Griffin’s and gave him a kiss.

Then he crawled out of bed and used the bathroom while I dropped to my back and allowed the feeling of contentment to settle in and warm me up. Nothing about what had happened this week had been expected.

Not only that, but most of it felt like a major inconvenience. Now that I was here with Griffin, experiencing all that I was, getting stranded at the resort felt like the biggest blessing. I was grateful to have met him, not just because of the way he seemed to look after me from the start, but also because he was just a man worth knowing.

He’d made me forget about my troubles for long stretches of time, and it was refreshing to finally feel like I had something to look forward to.

Griffin exited the bathroom and started going about making breakfast. I decided I should get up and help, so I climbed out of the bed and made my way into the bathroom next.

“How can I help?” I asked when I reappeared.

“I’ve got it. You grab a seat,” Griffin replied.
