“They already have their stuff out, and I promised a cash offer if you said yes, so within a week or so,” I answered.

“Cash?”

“Cash.”

“Griffin, I don’t have?—”

I pressed my finger to her lips to silence her. “I know you don’t. It’s okay. You’re going to be my wife, and I want to give this to you. From here on out, everything else is the two of us doing it together, however that happens. If it’s you continuing to work at the hotel because you love it, that’s fine. If it’s you eventually deciding you want to open your own photography business, because that’s what makes you happy, that’s fine, too. And if it’s you deciding you want me to take care of you and the babies we eventually decide to have, it’ll be my honor to do it. Don’t worry about the house. You’re going to turn this place into a home for me, for us, and that’s far more than money can ever buy.”

She assessed me briefly before she stepped forward again and slid her arms around my waist. Then she pressed a kiss to my lips.

When she pulled back, she asked, “We can really be in here before Christmas?”

I nodded. “Yes. After we visited your parents in Arizona for those two days at Thanksgiving, I figured you might like to have them come here to visit us for Christmas. Then we could share the news with both sets of parents at the same time.”

Her whole face lit up. “I love you so much.”

“I love you, too.” When she said nothing else, I asked, “So, you’re sure about the house then? Can I make the call?”

“Get the deal done, husband-to-be. I want you to take me somewhere we can celebrate our engagement.”

At her command, I didn’t delay.

I pulled out my phone and got the deal done.

Then, I took my wife-to-be somewhere we could celebrate our engagement and the start of our new lives together.
