“Focus, horn dog. He’s taking you home.”

“Right. Anyway, he drives me home in a huge pickup truck. I love a guy with a pickup truck.” She groans again.

“I know. Continue.”

“He takes me home, and I threw myself at him the minute we walked in the door.” She stops.

“And?” I hate it when she does that. She’s such a drama queen.

“And nothing. He tells me to get changed and to go to bed.”

“That’s it?”

“That’s it. He makes me get into my pjs and watches me climb into bed. Then leaves. Can you believe it? He just leaves.”

“Sounds like a gentleman.”

“Sounds like a prude. Or a prick. Or a jerk.”

I laugh. “Your feelings are hurt because a random guy at a bar took you home and respected you enough to make sure you’re safe and didn’t take advantage of a drunk girl.”

I watch Grace’s face as she contemplates this. “Yeah. They are hurt. What’s wrong with me? Am I not pretty enough?”

“Girl, your priorities are messed up.”

Sighing, “Yeah. You’re right.”

I just nod.

“Tell me about your night. Did you get some finally?” Grace wiggles her eyebrows. It’s freaky looking.

“Finally? I don’t need ‘some’ and no, I did not. Hudson was a perfect gentleman as well. I apparently passed out in his truck, and he carried me into my house and to bed. I woke up this morning still in my clothes from last night.”

“Well, that’s good.”

I smirk because this will get her riled up. “He spent the night.”

“WHAT?”

“Yep. Slept in bed with me and Wilbur all night. Then this morning, he made me toast and gave me aspirin. Then took me to breakfast.”

I’m not looking at Grace on purpose as I tell her this stuff, but I can see out of the corner of my eye that her head is about to explode. “He slept with you?”

“Yep.”

“He made you toast?”

“Yep.”

“He took you to breakfast?”

“Yep.”

“So, when is the wedding?” She laughs at the horror on my face.

“No. No. No. Nothing like that. When breakfast was over, he took me home and then left. Nothing more. We didn’t even exchange phone numbers. He was being a nice guy. That is all. Get that silly look off your face.”

“Kate and Hudson sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” She singsongs.
