"Or would you rather stay and continue exploring?" Philippe suggests, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

"Definitely the latter," I reply with a wicked grin, feeling more alive than I have in years.

"Then let's see what else the night has in store for us," Philippe says, his voice full of promises yet unspoken.

Chapter 5

Philippe

I stare into her beautiful emerald eyes. The sounds around us dissipate, the colors merge into one large kaleidoscope. I can hear my heartbeat and see the veins on her neck throb.

I’m supposed to take her somewhere, but I have forgotten where?

Only one thing I know for certain: she's not like the others, the women who fall at my feet, eager for my money and power. No, there's something different about this woman, an allure that has me captivated.

I gave her the chips for tonight, and she raked in over a quarter of a hundred thousand dollars. She didn’t keep a single one. Instead, she gave it all away.

She’s truly here for the thrill of it, at my side because she wants to be my side for the company and not for what I bring to the table. That little detail slowly eradicates the little wall I still had up.

I forget my words and thoughts and extend my hand. She blinks at it, her eyes fluttering back to meet mine briefly before she looks at my hand again. This gesture of me extending my palm for her take is much more than handing someone a chivalrous arm, and I can tell she knows it, just as I do.

She takes a deep breath, so quickly that most might not notice, and inserts her delicate trembling fingers through mine. I give them a gentle squeeze, weighing hers in mine, trying to calm her nerves.

Can’t she tell I’m nervous too?

Perhaps she can, because she gives me the smallest, encouraging smile.

Slowly, we make our way toward the elevator, the steady thrum of my heartbeat echoing in my ears.

"Is there more?" she asks, her curiosity piqued.

"Much more," I assure her, unable to suppress a grin. Deciding not to describe what I can’t put into words, I want her to see this for herself. “This part is for carefully vetted clients only.” And with that, I guide her into the elevator.

Inside, a side panel opens to a security sensory pad. My fingers trace a sensory pattern, the passcode, which changes every week. Suddenly the back wall of the elevator slides open, revealing a second, very elegant glass elevator. An exclusive gateway to the paradise hidden beneath.

The biometric security system scans us both, and I register Tatiana, giving her an ‘all access’ pass. "Wow," Tatiana breathes, unable to take her eyes off what's happening.

"Are you ready for this, cara mia?" I whisper into her ear, unable to keep the lust from my voice. She looks up at me, her eyes darkening with desire, and nods once more, her determination clear.

"Always," Tatiana answers, her eyes gleaming with the spirit of adventure. She watches as the elevator doors slide shut, sealing us into our cozy, glass-encased sanctuary.

The elevator begins its descent, and we're suddenly surrounded by an imposing, rocky wall that seems to stretch down into the bowels of the earth. As we move further downwards, the atmosphere shifts. We’re leaving behind the bustling world of the casino and entering another realm entirely.

"What is this place?" Tatiana asks in hushed tones, her fingers lightly pressing against the cool glass as she peers out at the rugged terrain.

"An escape we created in the forgotten tunnels of Pennsylvania," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper. "A sanctuary for those who need a break from the chaos above."

"Sounds perfect," she murmurs, her lips curling into a knowing smile. I can't help but return the expression, feeling a renewed sense of connection with her as we venture deeper into this enchanted world.

The rocky wall gives way to an awe-inspiring sight: a vast, cavernous space bathed in soft golden light, sparkling man-made waterfalls, and hidden alcoves. In the midst of this, people drink, laugh, kiss, and dance. It's a magical haven, unlike anything Tatiana has ever seen before.

Truth is, before this place was created, even I couldn't imagine the outcome. It's utterly incomprehensible. Tatiana notices naked women and men serving people laid out on couches. She gasps and clasps her hands over her mouth, shied by what she just saw. At last, we reach our destination.

As the elevator comes to a smooth stop, the door opens onto a breathtaking vista of wonder and enchantment. Together, we step out into this secret paradise, eager to explore its many wonders and uncover the magic that lies within its depths.

"Is that... a speakeasy bar?" Tatiana asks in disbelief at the sight of elegantly dressed patrons sipping on cocktails, exhaling clouds of smoke from the tall hookahs lying by their sides, bathed in the warm glow of old-fashioned Edison bulbs.

"Yes," I confirm, enjoying the wide-eyed wonder that lights up her face. "A little slice of the past, preserved for those who know where to find it."
