“Thank you.”

“You as well, Ms. Windsor.”

Andie mimics me. “Lou…”

He smiles. “Good afternoon, Andie.”

Andie and I giggle as he drives us to the store. The three of us walk in and head right for the frozen dessert section. Andie and I are piling the pints of ice cream into our basket when I turn to Lou. “What’s your favorite ice cream, Lou?”

He fidgets nervously. “Do you promise not to tell anyone?”

Andie and I look at each other and smile in excitement. I turn back to Lou and nod. “We promise.”

“I like Pink Bubblegum. It’s my favorite by far.”

That may be the girliest ice cream on the planet. If you gave me a million guesses for Lou’s favorite favor, I wouldn’t have guessed that. He’s six foot four and at least three hundred pounds of muscle.

Andie and I look at each other and then practically fall over in a fit of complete hysterics.

Lou is turning fifty shades of red. He attempts to muzzle our mouths, but we’re too busy laughing.

We end up getting ten flavors, eleven if you include the rarely seen Pink Bubblegum flavor.

When we arrive home, I insist that Lou join us forour taste testing.

I taste the Pink Bubblegum. “Lou, this is so gross. I can’t believe you like it.”

He smiles as he takes a heaping spoonful. “You’re crazy. It’s the best.”

Andie makes a face of disgust. “It’s not very good.”

She focuses her attention on the Rocky Road. “I think this one is my favorite.”

I think she just wants to be like Jade, but I say nothing.

I hold up the Mint Chocolate Chip. “This is my favorite.”

Now it’s Lou’s turn to make a look of disgust. “Ugh. It tastes like toothpaste.”

I hear the front door open and close. Beckett walks into the kitchen. He’s scowling. “What’s going on in here?”

“Daddy, Amanda and I are having an ice cream tasting contest. Lou likes girlie ice cream, but I’m not allowed to tell you which flavor.”

He looks at Lou. “I didn’t realize ice cream tasting was in your job description.”

Lou’s eyes widen. “Sorry, sir.”

I sigh. “Relax. I invited him.”

“Yes, I saw the photos of you three in the grocery store. One big happy family.”

Lou points toward the front door and mumbles, “I’m just going to head to the front gate.”

Beckett gives him a death stare. “You can come inside whenIinvite you. That’s it.”

He quickly nods and walks out.

I’m furious, but I’m not getting into things in front of Andie.
