Collin’s mouth is wide open. He’s in shock.
I have a flashback to the day Jade was born. Reggie was with me holding my hand. They placed Jade on my chest. I remember being so overwhelmed with love.
I’m looking at Jade now. I can already see on her face that she feels the same.
She gingerly places her hands on the baby and looks at the doctor. “Is he okay?”
“We’re going to take him in a minute, get him cleaned, and check him out, but so far so good.”
Collin gently caresses her head. “You did it. You’re amazing. I love you.”
He bends and kisses her and then their son. It’s a beautiful family moment that I’m happy she has and I get to witness.
He lifts his head and smiles at me. “Congrats to you, Grandma. You’re officially like the hottest grandmother ever.”
I let out a laugh. “Thanks, Collin.”
Jade smiles. “That’s true. You’re a GILF, Mom.”
I shake my head. “Let’s focus on the baby.”
We look down. It’s slightly hard to tell right now, but it looks like he has blond hair.
The nurse says, “We’re going to take him and get him cleaned and tested. We’ll be back as soon as possible.”
Collin asks, “Can I go with you?”
She shakes her head. “Sorry, Dad. We’ll have him back to you shortly.”
He nods. “Don’t switch him out with some other baby. I watched a Lifetime movie last week where that happened.”
The nurse indulges him. “I’ll be extra careful.”
The doctor is working on Jade. Collin winks at him. “There’s a twenty in it for you if you give her an extra stitch or two.”
Jade starts laughing and Collin smiles down at her.
This poor doctor. I imagine he’d welcome a subject change. “Do you guys have a name picked out?”
They look at each other and nod. Jade says, “Tyson. The T is for Tremaine.”
I kiss Jade’s cheek. “I love it. It’s perfect. It’s a strong name. I’ll give you two a moment of privacy together. I’m going to the waiting room to tell your dad. I know he’s been here the whole time, undoubtedly pacing, making everyone crazy.”
I give her one more hug and whisper, “Are you okay?”
She nods. I turn to leave but she grabs my arm. I see tears in her eyes. “You were right, Mom. You always are.”
I squeeze her hand. “You’re going to be an amazing mother.”
“Because I had the best.”
I swallow hard as tears freefall from my eyes.
I walk out into the lobby. The entire Knight and Lawrence crew are there. I love how many people care about Jade and Collin.
I look at Declan, my heart filled with so much emotion. “We have a beautiful grandson.”
Cheers erupt from everyone. Tears fill Declan’s eyes as he pulls me into a hug. Hewhispers, “Is she okay?”
