She wraps her arms around my neck and brings her forehead to mine. Her tears are streaming down her face. “Thank you for trusting me. I love you.”
“What kind of love are we talking about? I loveyou and I want to cuddle? Or I love you and I want you to stick your dick into me?”
She giggles as she kisses me, but before she can answer, Andie walks in.
“Amanda, why are you crying?”
“They’re happy tears, baby.” Amanda reaches out her hand. “Come here.”
Andie walks over and I pick her up and place her on my leg. I look at Amanda and she nods. I look down at Andie. “Sweetie, we have a lot of good news to share with you.”
“Like what?”
I smile as I rub Amanda’s stomach. “First, you’re going to be a big sister. Amanda and I are having a baby. A baby boy.”
Her eyes widen and she looks at Amanda. “A baby? A baby brother?”
Amanda nods.
“Can I touch your belly?”
“Of course.”
Amanda lifts her shirt and Andie touches her belly. “Wow, there’s a baby in there? A whole baby? My brother?”
“Yep.”
“So Daddy is now your baby daddy?”
Amanda laughs. “Yes, he is.”
“What’s the other good news?”
Amanda takes her hand and kisses it. “Your daddy asked me something special this morning, but before I answer, I want to make sure it’s okay with you. He asked if I want to be your mommy.”
She pinches her eyebrows in confusion. “What about my mommy who’s in heaven?”
“We can both be your mommies. She’ll be your mommy from heaven, and I’ll be your mommy here.”
“Will I call you mommy?”
“You can call me whatever you want.”
“Do you have to go on anymore painting retreats? I didn’t like that.”
She shakes her head. “No more of those.”
She thinks for a moment. “I think I’d like to call you mommy.”
Amanda fights back the tears. “I’d like that too.”
