She shakes her head. “Can you believe this?”

I lean down and kiss her. I haven’t even processed the twins yet. I’m just relieved Amanda made it through.

“No, I can’t.”

“Why don’t you hold our son?” She smiles again. “One of them.”

I take the one from the nurse into my arms. He has a blue hat and is bundled in what looks like an ugly white dishrag. It’s surreal. It’s so different this time around. The last time was marred by so much tragedy. Now we’re experiencing a real-life miracle.

I look down at her. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Jade peeks below the curtain. “Don’t look at that mess, Beckett. You’ll never have sex with her again.”

I roll my eyes. “I promise that will never happen.”

She laughs. “Let me see my brothers. My baby’s uncles.”

I hand her the baby I’m holding, and she takes him into her arms. She gazes down at him. “I’m your sister, Jade. I will always shoot straight with you. Come to me for booze and condoms. Your nephew, Tyson, is a fucking nightmare. You’re going to have to be a good uncle and start babysitting him soon.”

I can’t help but laugh. Jade is certainly one of a kind, but I wouldn’t mind one just like her. Only one though. I don’t think I could take two of her.

The nurse asks, “Do you have names picked out?”

Amanda answers, “We were thinking of Forrest for one. We didn’t know about the second until a few minutes ago.”

I look at her. “How about Beckett Junior?”

Jade scoffs. “You’re not fucking naming my brother BJ. That’s social suicide.”

“Hmm. Fair point.”

She asks, “Why Forrest?”

“Your mom named you a color. Forrest was the closest to a color we could agree on.”

She thinks for a moment. “What about Blaze for whichever one was hiding? It’s kind of a devilish name for the twin we know will be my mini-me.”

I smile. “I like it.”

Amanda nods. “Me too.”

AMANDA

An hour later, we’re sitting in my hospital room. Andie and Glinda come running in. Glinda toggles her eyes between the two babies. “Oh my god, it’s true. Two of them?”

Beckett and I both laugh. I shake my head in disbelief. “It’s true. It’s hard to believe, but it’s true.”

Glinda holds out her arms and walks right by Beckett to me. She grabs my face and kisses my cheek. “You are such a blessing. Thank you so much. I love you.”

We both have tears in our eyes. “I love you too.”

Beckett mumbles, “What about me?”

Glinda and I giggle before she turns and hugs him. I hear her whisper, “I love you. Can you believe this?”

I see Beckett’s body release a few sobs. She rubs his backand says, “She’s okay. Everyone is okay. It’s a good day. A great day.”
