“I wasn’t in a good place, Beckett. I immediately told my husband that I kissed another man.”

“You told him?”

“I couldn’t live with that guilt. I was beside myself.”

“I kissed you, not the other way around.”

“I didn’t stop you, and I kissed you back.” I whisper, “And I liked it. A lot.”

He reaches over and squeezes my hip. “So did I.”

I wakein the morning to Beckett wrapped around me like a blanket. His hands are on my boobs on the outside of my shirt. What is it with him and my boobs?

I give myself two minutes to quietly enjoy it. It’s not so bad having him hold me like this, enveloped in his yummy scent.

I don’t want to embarrass him again, so I carefullywiggle out of his hold without waking him. I brush my teeth, put on a bra, and head down to the kitchen.

I hear Glinda and Nico chatting. I’m dying to know if something is going on between them. They practically make googly eyes at each other every time I see them together.

I walk in and smile. “Good morning.”

They both turn and return my smile. Glinda points to the coffee pot. “The coffee is fresh if you want a cup.”

“I would love it. That’s what I came for. Andie finished her painting last night before bed. I told her if it’s dry, I’ll wrap it and she can bring it to school for show and tell.”

Glinda perks up. “I want to see the finished product.”

“That’s up to the artist.” I look around. “Is Karen here?”

“She should be back from the market any minute. I told her to make cherry French toast today. Let’s see how disciplined Beckett really is.”

I giggle. “You’re a bad, bad woman, Glinda Windsor.”

“I’m not. I’m just starting to understand a few more things about my son and what drives him at times.” She winks at me.

I smile as I leave and make my way to the studio. When I walk in, Andie is already in there. She gives me a guilty look. “I know you said not to touch it, but I wanted to see if it’s dry.”

“That’s okay. Is it dry?”

She enthusiastically nods.

I give it a quick feel to make sure. It’s dry. “I think—”

Before I can continue my thought, she’s hugging my leg. “Thanks, Amanda. This is the best painting I’ve ever made. I can’t wait to show it to everyone.”

I crouch down so we’re eye to eye. “It was all you.” I tap her chest. “The talent is in here. I just helped guide it out.”

“Really?”

“Really. I know a lot of adults who couldn’t paint something this good. After school today, do you want to try painting people? It’s a lot harder.”

“Yes!” She hugs me again. “I can’t wait.”

“Good. Go get Gigi. She wanted to see your masterpiece before we pack it.”

She leaves and I see Beckett in the doorway, dressed like a god in his suit. In his deep, gravelly voice, he says, “You’re very good with her.”

“I did raise a daughter.”
