“I wasn’t going to ask. I know Andie is yours. She’s got so much of you in her.”
“I initially didn’t want to test her, and I didn’t for a year, but it ate me up inside, so I finally did one. Much to my relief, it confirmed she was mine. I had decided that, regardless of the results, I’d raise her as mine, but I needed to know.”
“You’ve done an incredible job with her, Beckett. You should be so proud.”
“It’s not easy. I’m not perfect. It’s hard going at it alone. I feel like I fail more than I succeed.”
I give a small, understanding smile. “I know. More than anyone else, I know.”
He closes his eyes briefly as it hits him. “Shit, I’m sorry. Of course you know. You managed it all on your own. And you did it without any money. I’m such an asshole.”
“We both have done what’s best for our kids as we navigated things alone. Money or not, it’s hard. A toddler doesn’t give a crap if you have money.”
“I don’t know how you did it.”
“The same way you do. One day at a time, full of love and good intentions.”
“Well, you did it right. Jade is one of the most dynamic, confident women I’ve ever met in my life.”
“She’s had her share of issues, but I think she’s on a good path now.”
He looks like he’s about to ask more but drops it. Hesweeps my hair out of my face. “Enough of the heavy stuff. We’re here to have fun.”
I smile. “Yes, let’s have fun.”
And that’s what we do all day. We swim, relax, drink, talk, everything. He’s so loving and romantic. I can’t get enough of him. He must feel the same because his hands haven’t left my body the entire day.
We don’t bother to get dressed for dinner, not wanting to leave the pool area, so we eat outside. As it’s getting later in the evening, the kitchen staff brings us ice cream sundaes, which I’ve learned are Beckett’s weakness. We’re in the hot tub when they arrive, so they set up the toppings right on the lip of the hot tub so we don’t have to get out. There must be twenty different toppings.
I rub my fingers through his sexy beard. “Close your eyes.”
He does.
I grab a sash from the robes that were left for us and tie it around his eyes.
He smiles as he nods, knowing what’s coming.
I then move and straddle his big, hard body.
He pulls me down to him and thrusts his hips up. “Ooh, I like this game. Any game where you’re on top of me is a good one.”
“No peeking.”
“I won’t.”
“Tell me what you taste.”
I spread one of the chocolate dips on my lips and then kiss him. He kisses and licks my lips before tasting his own. “Hmm. That was the dark chocolate.”
He’s right. “Ooh, you’re good at this.”
He smiles. “I know my sweets.”
I try it with a few different flavors. He guessesthem right each time, and I’m enjoying him tasting them off my lips.
I then trace a cherry all around his lips. He licks it. “Yum, you know this is my favorite. It tastes like you.”
“I should stick it inside you like you did to me.”
