Desire knotted his belly despite the curious men and woman next to him. He knew it would only take him a minute to make Miles hot and bothered again.

Miles gave his friends a stern look, oblivious to Logan’s filthy thoughts. “What’s with the twenty questions? I could hear you guys from upstairs.”

“He could have been a serial killer for all we know,” Drake said sullenly.

“A serial killer wouldn’t open the door,” Hunter pointed out.

Drake frowned at Hunter. Tristan sighed. Izzy rolled her eyes.

Blue poked his head out of the kitchen.

Izzy’s expression melted when she spotted the puppy. “Oh my God, he’s adorable!”

Blue made a worried sound and darted behind Miles’s legs.

Izzy’s face fell. Hunter swallowed a snort.

“It’s okay, Blue,” Miles said. “She’s not as scary as she looks.”

“You’re hurting my feelings,” Izzy protested.

Miles’s friends squatted and tried not to frighten Blue as they said hello to the puppy. Blue sniffed their hands curiously, his tail slowly wagging.

Pepper trotted out of the kitchen and joined Logan.

“We should take our leave,” Logan told Miles with a reluctant smile. “I hope you have a fun afternoon.”

The expression in Miles’s eyes told Logan he was loathed to see him go too.

Logan’s gaze glanced off Miles’s running shoes where they sat by the door. He stopped, his hand on the door handle.

“Fancy a run tomorrow?”

Miles blinked, surprised. “You run?”

“To be honest, I haven’t exercised since I came here.” Logan grimaced. “I should get back into it before I get a paunch.” He patted his stomach.

Miles’s expression softened. “Sure.”

CHAPTER9

The doorbell rangat eight thirty the next morning. Miles came out of the kitchen and did his best to hide his nerves as he crossed the foyer.

He’d found himself looking out of his living room window at the house opposite the road far too often after his friends had left yesterday. And he hadn’t gotten much sleep last night either. For once, it wasn’t because his mind was full of tumultuous thoughts about the past.

Instead, Miles had found himself reliving the wicked way Logan had kissed and touched him, to the point he’d ended up stroking himself to a mind-blowing orgasm before he’d fallen asleep.

Miles couldn’t help the sliver of doubt that clouded his mind as he reached for the doorknob. His belly clenched.

He and Logan hadn’t made any promises yesterday.

Sure, they’d kissed, but Logan hadn’t said anything beyond that.

Then again, Izzy and the others turned up before we could talk about what happened between us.

Miles pulled the door open, his insecurities clogging his throat.

Logan turned where he’d been looking out at the mountains. He was wearing running shorts and a T-shirt that showcased his powerful arms and strong legs. His face lit up at the sight of Miles.
