Miles fingered his blazer when they stepped out of the vehicle.

“Am I dressed alright for this place?”

He stared at the pretty building straddling a verdant rise that rolled gently down to the water.

Logan saw the lines tightening the corners of his eyes and the way his fingers twitched on his clothes. He took Miles’s hand and pressed a kiss on the back of his knuckles.

Miles’s breath caught, his pupils blowing a little in the dark.

“Yes,” Logan assured. “I’m gonna have to beat people off you when we get in there.” He skimmed Miles’s clothes with a hot gaze. “I forgot to tell you how much I like your outfit. You look amazing, Miles.”

Miles flushed at the compliment. “I—Thanks,” he mumbled. “My friends went a bit crazy when I came home.” He glanced at his clothes. “This is fromMiller, Theo’s store.”

“Oh.” Logan recalled what Lucy had told him. “He’s the one going out with Hunter, right?” He chuckled at Miles’s surprised look. “Lucy is the biggest gossip this side of the San Bernardino Mountains.”

Miles smiled, his shoulders slowly unknotting. “Yes. Hunter and Theo are engaged.”

A maître d’hotel dressed in formal attire greeted them warmly when they entered the foyer. Miles stiffened as they followed him around a partition and entered the main restaurant area. The clink of glasses and cutlery and the sound of muted conversations rose around them as they crossed an elegant dining space with muted lighting.

Logan placed his hand on Miles’s lower back and leaned down.

“We’re not the only gay couple here, so relax, Miles,” he whispered in his ear.

Miles startled before giving him a grateful look.

The maître d’hotel showed them to a reserved table next a window.

Miles gazed at the lights strung across the charming terrace and garden outside as they took their seats. “This place must be beautiful in the summer.”

A waiter brought a carafe of water and glasses to their table.

“We should come back next year and see for ourselves,” Logan said after the man left.

Miles gave him a blank look.

Logan reached across the table and ran his fingers lightly across the back of Miles’s hand.

“I would like to be with you next year too, Miles,” he said quietly. “That’s if you’ll have me.”

Logan’s heart raced as he met Miles’s dazed stare. He’d thought he hadn’t been ready for a serious relationship. Yet here he was, trying to convince a man he met less than a month ago that he wanted them to do just that.

It was shocking and unexpected. But, more than anything, it felt…right. Like it was meant to be.

Logan knew he wanted this more than he’d ever wanted anything in his entire adult life.

Miles swallowed at what he saw on Logan’s face. “I’d—I’d like that very much.” He pulled his hand away, opened the à la carte menu, and hid behind it, his ears bright red and his eyes sparkling with happiness.

Logan stifled a groan.

I’m seriously going to break that promise I made about not touching him if he gets any cuter than this.

“Miles?” someone said in a startled voice.

CHAPTER12

Miles froze. His pulse quickened as he lowered the menu and stared at the couple who’d stopped by their table.

It was Wyatt and Nathan.
