Logan’s expression softened. “Feeling better?”

“Yeah.” Miles hesitated. “Thank you for doing this. I know I said I didn’t need any of it, but—” he looked around the restaurant, butterflies swarming his belly for the first time that evening, “it’s only now sinking in that I’m doing something really special tonight. And I’m glad it’s with you.”

Logan’s hand twitched around Miles’s fingers. His eyes darkened.

“I want to kiss you so bad right now,” he confessed, not bothering to hide his desire.

Miles laughed. Logan’s expression turned predatory.

Miles’s heartbeat picked up as sexual tension oozed between them. He shivered when Logan rubbed the pad of his thumb over the pulse racing at his wrist.

“Your skin’s getting hot,” Logan said huskily.

Miles’s cock stirred at his burning gaze. “And whose fault is that?”

Logan pursed his lips and sighed. “It’s mine.” He reluctantly released Miles’s hand. “Sticking to that three-date rule is gonna hurt.” He looked down. “Little Logan was really rearing to go there.”

Miles blushed. “I can’t believe you gave it a name. And there’s nothing little about it.”

Logan chuckled. “You mean, you haven’t given yours a name?” His tone was one hundred percent tease. “Miles Junior sounds pretty?—”

Luckily, the waiter returned with Miles’s wine and their starters before Miles could figure out a way to make Logan shut up.

Dinner was surprisingly fun and not just because of the food. Miles found himself chatting with Logan like they’d known each all their lives. Logan told him about growing up in Sacramento, his family and his whirlwind marriage, and how he’d realized he was into guys.

Surprise jolted Miles when Logan told him about his first sexual encounter with a man. “It was a one-night stand?”

Logan shrugged. “I wanted to know if I could get hard with a guy. We were pretty open with each other before we went to the hotel. I told him I had never had sex with a man. He didn’t mind.”

Finding out Logan had opted to have a one-night stand for his first experience with a man made Miles feel strange. He wasn’t completely certain what name to give to the hot sensation tightening his stomach.

Was he judging Logan for having sex with someone he hadn’t cared for? Or was he annoyed Logan’s first time had been with a stranger and not?—

—me. Miles froze, startled.Wait. Am I—am I jealous?!

“You have a really weird look on your face right now,” Logan said.

“Sorry.” Miles bit his lip.

“I’ll be honest with you, it wasn’t the only one-night stand I had,” Logan said quietly. “I dated a few guys before I left Sacramento, but they were sex friends more than partners.” He paused. “I’m not ashamed of that. It made me realize I had a pretty healthy sex drive.”

Unease coiled through Miles.

“So, you’ve done this before?” He indicated the restaurant.

Logan raised an eyebrow. “You mean, give flowers to a guy and wine and dine him?” The smile that stretched his mouth raised goosebumps on Miles’s skin. “No, Miles. I don’t do this kind of thing with sex friends.” He propped his elbows on the table and leaned in close. “I’ve never done any of this with another man.”

Miles’s heart tingled at his heated gaze. “Oh.”

He did his best to stifle a goofy smile.

Logan’s eyes darkened with emotion. He took Miles’s hand and kissed the back of his knuckles.

“I would only ever do this with someone I’m serious about.” Logan turned Miles’s wrist over and pressed his lips to his racing pulse. “I meant it when I said I fully intend to court you, Miles.”

Miles nearly melted in a puddle of goo at his words.

From the misty glances they earned from a few of the tables around them, the other diners had overheard their conversation. A choked off wolf-whistle came from the opposite side of the restaurant.
