“For a good few years. I got divorced when I realized I was gay.”

Drake narrowed his eyes. “Miles isn’t some kind of project for you, is he? You’re not fooling around with him just so you can satisfy your curiosity?”

This time, Logan did nothing to mask his annoyance. “It’s a good thing you’re Miles’s friend or I would have punched you for that stupid question,” he said in a hard voice. “I like Miles, Drake. A lot more than I ever thought I would like another person, man or woman.”

Drake stared, surprise widening his eyes a little. “Are you saying you’re falling in love with him?”

Logan stilled. His pulse quickened.

Am I falling in love with Miles?!

Whatever Drake saw on Logan’s face made his expression ease. “You don’t have to answer that,” he said gruffly. He looked out over the mountains and sighed. “And thank you. For being there for him.” He flashed a warning glance at Logan. “You better make him happy.”

“I will.” Logan propped his elbows on the railing. “I promise.”

Drake hunched down beside him. “And you better, you know, not hurt him,” he muttered.

Logan gave him a quizzical look.

Drake made a face. “I mean, during sex. Miles is a virgin, isn’t he?”

Logan bit his lip hard at Drake’s conflicted expression. “He is,” he finally managed without laughing. “Although the guy’s doing his damndest to lose that particular tag.”

Drake drew a sharp breath.

Logan grinned at his incensed look. “If Miles had his own way, I would have popped his cherry by now. I’m the one who insisted we take things slow. I want to make sure his first time is unforgettable for all the right reasons.”

Drake glowered at him for a moment before dropping his head in his hands. His shoulders sagged.

“Is it alright if I still think you’re a giant asshole despite what you just said?” he groaned.

Logan chuckled and patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll be adding the word lovable to that sentence soon.”

“I don’t know about that,” Drake grunted. “We should head back. Miles will be wondering where you are.”

They returned to the bar.

“I’m gonna get another round of drinks,” Drake said. “You want anything?”

“I’m good, thanks.”

Drake headed over to the counter while Logan made his way through the crowd to their table. Miles brightened when he spotted him.

Logan’s steps slowed.

Though she’d done her best to appear composed so far, Izzy wasn’t able to completely conceal her emotions as she stole a glance at Miles from under her lashes.

Logan’s heart sank. He finally understood what he’d read on her face when Nathan had told everyone Miles and him were dating.

Izzy liked Miles.

And it seemed Miles was completely unaware of this fact.

CHAPTER15

Izzy was stillon Logan’s mind when Miles pulled up outside the Batistas’ home the following Wednesday. He hadn’t told Miles about his suspicions when he’d taken him home last Friday.

Izzy had evidently decided to keep her feelings a secret for a reason.
