Logan had somehow guessed that Izzy liked him. Yet he himself had failed to see it, even though he’d known her practically his whole life.

Miles clenched his jaw and bunched his fists on the edge of the basin, regret a heavy weight in the pit of his stomach.

Does anyone else know? Does—does Wyatt?!

Miles squeezed his eyes shut.

Just like Logan, he doubted Wyatt would have said anything even if he knew. Izzy’s secret was hers to keep. And, judging from what Miles had accidentally overheard, she never intended to reveal it.

Miles wasn’t sure how he made it through the rest of that evening. He was conscious Logan had picked up on his mood and kept casting worried glances his way when no one else was looking. Relief almost made him giddy when they left Wyatt and Izzy’s house just after ten.

“Logan?” he mumbled as they walked down the driveway.

“Yeah?”

“Do you mind driving?”

Logan frowned slightly. “Of course not.”

He took the car keys off Miles and got behind the steering wheel.

They rode back in silence, Miles gazing blindly out of the window most of the way. It took a moment for him to register that they’d reached his house and were parked on his drive.

Logan switched off the engine and turned to face him.

“You’re scaring me, Miles,” he said stiffly.

Miles’s gut churned with remorse when he saw the concern darkening Logan’s beautiful eyes. He unclipped his seat belt, leaned over the console, and kissed Logan.

Logan drew a sharp breath. Then his hands were on Miles’s face and his tongue was inside Miles’s mouth and Miles forgot all his worries for a dizzying minute.

His pulse was thumping hard when Logan reluctantly ended their kiss.

Logan clasped his face. “What’s wrong?”

Miles swallowed and clenched his hands in Logan’s shirt. “I—I overheard you and Izzy on the porch.”

“Oh.” Logan blinked. His mouth twisted in a grimace. “Damn.”

“Yeah.” A humorless chuckle left Miles. “Damn.” He dropped his forehead against Logan’s chest. “I don’t know what to do. What to think.”

Logan wrapped his arms around him. “Are you feeling guilty?”

Miles took a shaky breath. “Yeah.”

“Why?”

The question threw Miles. He raised his head and looked blankly at Logan. “What?”

Logan took hold of Miles’s chin. “There’s no reason for you to feel guilty, Miles. You have no control over Izzy’s feelings. She knows that.”

“But—” Miles stopped, his insides twisting hotly, “but I wasn’t aware she felt that way about me!”

Logan cocked his head to the side. “Would it have changed anything?”

The tumultuous thoughts that had been roaring through Miles’s mind ever since he accidentally listened in on Izzy and Logan’s private conversation crashed to a halt.

Logan sighed and pressed his lips to Miles’s feverish brow. “Would you have reciprocated Izzy’s feelings?” he said softly against Miles’s skin. He pulled back and gazed intently into Miles’s eyes. “Would the two of you have gone out?”
