CHAPTER19

Miles wokeup to Blue’s excited yip. He opened his eyes in time to see the puppy prop his forepaws on the edge of Logan’s bed. Blue stretched his neck and licked Miles’s nose.

“Hey, Blue,” Miles mumbled sleepily. He rolled onto his back and squinted at the sunlight streaming through the gaps in the curtains.

Logan came into the bedroom with two cups of steaming coffee, Pepper padding silently at his side. “Good morning.” He smiled at Miles. “It’s still early. You should get some more sleep.”

Miles’s belly clenched.

Logan dressed for work looked good enough to eat.

Logan smirked. “Do you like what you see, Mr. Martinez?”

Heat warmed Miles’s cheeks. “I do.” He sat up.

The sheets pooled around his waist.

Miles’s eyes rounded when he saw the love bites Logan had made all over his body.

“Yikes,” Logan muttered, not sounding the least bit sorry. “Looks like I got a bit carried away last night.”

Miles took the coffee he offered. “You were like a starving beast,” he mumbled.

Logan shrugged, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “What can I say? My prey was just too cute.”

Miles groaned. Logan laughed, sat on the bed, and kissed him.

Miles’s pulse quickened when he tasted coffee and an essence that was pure Logan. He hummed appreciatively.

Logan reluctantly ended the kiss. “What are your plans for the day?”

Miles bent his knees and cradled his cup in his hands. “I’m going to apply for college.”

Logan’s eyes widened. “What?”

Miles leaned over and pressed a quick peck to Logan’s mouth, unable to resist touching the man who’d wormed his way into his heart and soul.

“I’ve always wanted to be a PE teacher,” Miles confessed. “I’ve been looking at an education major the last few weeks. I ordered some brochures, but they’ve been sitting unopened in a drawer.” He took a deep breath and met Logan’s surprised gaze unflinchingly, his chest tight with all the wonderful and scary emotions Logan had roused in him in the past few weeks. “Meeting you was what I needed to start moving forward again. To…live again.” He tugged his bottom lip between his teeth, feeling shy all of a sudden.

Admiration brightened Logan’s eyes. He reached over and brushed a thumb across Miles’s mouth so he released his trapped lip.

“That’s incredible, Miles. I’m so proud of you.”

Miles blushed.

Logan put their cups on the nightstand, clasped Miles’s face, and took his mouth in a soul-searing kiss.

By the time they came up for air, they were both flushed and breathless.

Logan pressed his forehead against Miles’s brow and groaned. “If I didn’t have surgery this morning, I’d definitely skip work and climb back in that bed with you.”

Miles chuckled. “I can’t corrupt Twilight Falls’ hottest vet.”

Logan raised an eyebrow. “You think I’m hot?”

“Ah-huh.” Miles shocked both of them when he lowered his hand and grazed Logan’s erection. “And incredibly well endowed.”

Logan cursed. Miles grinned.
