“Alright,” she said, biting her bottom lip when his eyes showed his surprise.

“That’s it? No making me beg for you to come home with me, where you truly belong?” he asked, and she shook her head no. His smile made her blood race, and she lifted up onto her tiptoes, pressing a kiss to his lips.

“Seeing you with Tommy…it’s what I wanted, what I’ve always dreamt about,” she admitted, wrapping her legs around his waist when he lifted her, his hands holding her close, fingers tangling in her hair. “I’d wake up at night, in worry or fright, and I’d be calling out your name. Even with as much as I swore I hated you for choosing someone else over me, I could never turn it off, never deny that you’re the one that I wanted, next to me, holding me, loving me, protecting me, reassuring me that everything was going to be okay.”

“I swear, I will always be there if you call out for me now, Colleen. I’ve said it a million times, I don’t deserve it, deserve for you to come back to me, but I can’t stay away from you. I can’t let you go again—you or Tommy. I love you, baby, I’ve never stopped loving you,” he promised, and she lifted her chin, kissing him until all she wanted was to feel him inside her, loving her the way she needed, couldn’t deny wanting.

“I love you too, Avery,” she whispered when he pulled back with a groan, turning it into a hoarse moan that sent her pulse fluttering wildly. “I always have, so please…don’t ever break my heart again, because if you break mine, you’ll break Tommy’s as well.”

“Never, you’ll be lucky if let you even out of my sight now,” he said, brushing kisses over her face as they breathed hard, and she was thankful Tommy was distracted by his new toys and paying them no attention.

Avery gave her one last, slow kiss, then slid her down his body, letting her feel every inch of his hard length. “I want nothing more than to take you into our room and lay you out, make love to you the rest of the night, but I’m a parent now, and I know we have to feed our boy. So, there is take out in the fridge that shouldn’t need more than quick reheat, I can go get it if you want to stay up here with Tommy.”

“I think you’re going to do pretty good with this parenting stuff,” she teased him, leaning into his quick kiss with even more of a grin. “I’ll go get the food, explore the kitchen more. Are you moved in here fully now?” she added a bit too quickly it seemed by the way his brows tightened in worry. “I love the house, I just…if you’re staying here tonight then Tommy and I could stay out a bit later since it won’t take long to get back.”

“I’m fully moved in, and I was hoping you and Tommy would stay the night. Unless you changed your mind, I thought the plan was to stop in tomorrow morning and watch our boy while you handle the bridal shower and sweet sixteen party. I can watch him here or at your place if you preferred, but it’s not far if we need to go over there tomorrow morning. If you’re worried Tommy might not sleep well here tonight, that’s fine but…”

“I’ll call Meredith, let her know,” she said, stopping him with a kiss, and not even her friend’s concerned questions and prodding could change her mind.

“You’re really ready to forgive him, let it all go after just six weeks, when two weeks ago you hadn’t even begun to forgive him? It’s one thing if you want to sleep with him again, but moving in with him, already?” Meredith questioned and she let out a sigh, telling her friend about the conversation she had with Avery the day he watched Tommy. “You’ve already forgiven him…you just wanted to see him with Tommy a bit more, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, getting home, seeing them laid out on the couch together I knew that that was everything I’d been wanting, wishing for even when I denied it a million times. Tommy lights up around him. I can’t deny either of us this, Mere.”

“I know, but I’m going to miss you two. And what about the house? Do you want to sell it? You pay me really well, but I can’t cover the mortgage by myself without raising rent which will just have them out the door.”

“Well…” Colleen laughed before telling her about the apartment, Avery’s stipulations, and promising she’d still cover her half of the mortgage even if she and Tommy did move out, while warming up the meal.

“He’s a better person than I’d be in his shoes,” Meredith said making her laugh softly again. “I’ll come check out the apartment. If I like it, maybe we can rent out the house and that way if I finally find someone I’ll have the house to fall back on.”

“That sounds good, how about Sunday?” she suggested, getting Meredith’s agreement before she finished the food, then called up to Avery as she settled it onto the table in the kitchen. He and Tommy hurried into the room, laughing hilariously, and after they finished eating, she didn’t argue in the least when they went out into the backyard, amazed they had one. Even the house she and Meredith had didn’t have more than an eight-by-eight little concrete patio. They only had the tiny front yard to play in the grass, nothing like this place.

Tommy was out by eight-thirty, snug in new pjs, in the bed with the stuffed puppy tight in his grasp. Her heart fluttered wildly when Avery dropped a kiss onto his forehead, getting a sleepy ‘luv u, daddy’ from Tommy. She didn’t have the heart to tell Tommy no earlier during his bath when he asked if Avery was his daddy, and hearing it now, put tears in her eyes.

Avery quietly shut the door behind them, and before she could move one inch, she was in his arms with them wrapped tightly around her, his lips claiming hers, and she pressed herself entirely against him. “Thank you,” he whispered as he laid her down on their bed, the moisture in his eyes her absolute undoing.

“I’m in…all in Avery.”

“You’ll never regret it, baby, I won’t let you.”

Colleen didn’t need the words, not now, and she pulled him back down to her, kissing him with the same desperation she had six weeks ago. Even more desperate for the feeling of him against her after that night somehow.

His hands slid to her blouse, slowly undoing it, pulling a whine from her. “Avery, please, don’t tease, not tonight.”

“If you give me you tonight, there will be no going back, I won’t be able to stay away, stay off you, baby,” he warned, his lips trailing down her neck, following the path of skin displayed by each button falling open.

She pushed on his shoulder, turning him slightly and crawled over him as his brow lifted, a smile settling onto his lips. She pulled her blouse off, discarding her bra along with it before pushing at his shirt, quickly popping open his buttons until she could reach his bare skin.

He held onto his control until she laid down on top of him, her tight tips pressing hard against his chest, her lips teasing his ear. His hand slid behind her head, holding her close as he rolled her onto her back and sat up, tossing aside his shirt, the rest of their clothes following it, until she was completely bare underneath him.

Colleen cried out in bliss as he rediscovered every inch of her, settling between her thighs, brushing his nose against her soaked core. He licked and nipped at her, until she toppled, once, twice, thrice times, drinking every drop of her sweetness up, growling when she tugged his head up by his hair. “Avery, I can’t…”

“You’ll give me more,” he said with a hungry gleam as he slid up her body, stealing her mouth, as he filled her. She clamped down around him, making stars dance behind his lids, and he gritted his teeth, whistling out a breath as he broke off the kiss, doing his best to hold off.

His resolve shattered when her nails dug into his back, sending him over the edge as she clung to him.

“Now you definitely have to give me more,” he grunted as he pulled back, his thick length still rock hard. Her hips lifted into him, and he thrusted hard, pulling a gasp from her, her body arching into his, as her eyes held his.

“Yes, oh god, yes, Avery,” she cried, her body glistening, tempting, and he leaned down, claiming her hard tips as he turned them until she straddled him, sending him the tiniest bit deeper inside her sweetness.
