"Alfie?"

My heart skipped a beat when I heard Emilia's voice. She sounded scared, and my fingers clenched on the phone.

"Emilia, what's going on? Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine," she said, but her voice shook. "But you have to listen to me. A man named Teagan Kelley took Cassidy. Heworks for you. He's the mole. Cassidy is being held at Lorenzo's compound."

"I know." My voice was grim. "We're taking care of it. But listen, Emilia, you have to get somewhere safe. Get out of--"

In the background, I heard her talking to someone. A man.

Dread pooled in my gut. In my mind, I saw Dom with a gun to her head, forcing her to lure us into a trap. "Emilia, are you all right? Is someone there with you?"

"It's just Luca," she said quickly. "He's helping us--I just found out something awful about Lorenzo, and--"

The line went muffled, and I heard Luca talking to her on the other end.

"--yes, yes. Sorry. Not important. Alfie, you have to listen to me. It's a trap. Lorenzo is using Cassidy to lure the McTiernans into a firefight. You can't go there. He's going to kill you all."

"Alfie, Tommy--let's go!"

I glanced over my shoulder. Over by the car, Connor was suiting up. Time was running out.

"You need to get somewhere safe," I said again, turning my back to them. "Do you hear me, Emilia? Get the hell out of that house."

"But--"

"I can't let you get caught up in this."

"I'm already caught up in it," her voice was frantic. "This is my home, Alfie. My family. I'm not going to let Lorenzo destroy it."

I swore under my breath. "Emilia, this is not the time to play hero."

"I'm not playing hero," she hissed. "I'm trying to help you. Go to the tradesman’s entrance on the south side of the house. Luca and I will unlock it for you."

"Alfie, what the hell are you doing?" Tommy shouted. "We're moving out!"

"I'm coming, hold your fucking horses!"

"Go," she said. "I'll see you soon."

"Emilia--"

The line went dead.

I ran a hand down my face and shoved the phone back into my pocket. I felt like I was going to throw up. I didn't trust Luca as far as I could throw him, but he had saved my ass when it would've been easier to let me bleed out on that sidewalk. Emilia seemed to trust him, so I would, too.

How to get Connor and Tommy to trust them was another matter.

I slid into the passenger seat. “Connor, you can’t just go charging in there. That place is probably crawling with Moretti's guys. Going in alone is suicide.”

“Give the address to Grady if you’re fucking scared, then. Give it to Callum and Michael, I don’t care,” he growled as he started the car. “If you honestly think I’m going to waste one more second on some kind of plan while that bastard has her, then you don’t know me at all.”

Tommy tossed the guns and a Pelican Case into the backseat and got in. "That's my baby sister, Connor. You're fucking crazy if you don't think we're coming with you, man."

I grabbed the dashboard as Connor peeled out. “Connor, you’re walking into a trap. This is a trap, and Cassidy is the bait."

“I'm the one who put her there in the first place. It’s Cassidy, Alfie. My Cass. Moretti's got her, and it’s all my fault. Call anyone you want, rally the guys, I don’t care. I can’t just sit here and do nothing while he’s…I can't…”
