“You’re not mad at me?”
“For what?”
I watched her expression change as more tears flowed out. She held her head in her hands and released the anxiety she’d been holding on to for days. I was so happy as I comforted her in my arms. Another baby was the best news I could have possibly imagined.
“I love you, Karly Lewis,” I said. “God, I wish you’d told me.”
“I love you so much, it hurts,” she said, wiping away her tears.
“I know exactly what you mean.”
I held her and let her feel my body on hers. She needed to feel safe now more than ever. I was so happy she loved me as much as I loved her. When we were apart, it felt like a part of me was missing. All I wanted was to scoop her up and take her everywhere with me so she’d never feel alone or confused or sad.
“You’re just magic,” she said, looking deeply into my eyes. “I need to pinch myself.”
“We’re magic,” I said, adding on to her vision of us. “Alexis is going to be so happy.”
She gave me a perfect smile. “Oh, wow! That will be amazing to see her face light up.”
“I couldn’t be more thrilled than I am right at this very moment.”
She drew me in with her perfect eyes and her warm lips. I needed to kiss her, so I pulled her in and slid my tongue along hers, putting all my feelings into the passionate kiss. I’d never been more in love with anyone or anything. Karly was my happily ever after, and I couldn’t have envisioned a more perfect woman than her. She was honest, kind, and loving. She always wore her heart on her sleeve and acted with grace, no matter what the situation. Alexis loved her to pieces, and I loved her with my body, mind, and soul. She was a part of me, and the love we had for one another would thrive and last a lifetime. I’d never wanted anything more.
“I’ll sort the press out. They’re the last thing on my mind. I’m sure they’ll love this story, actually,” I said, giving her some peace of mind.
“I don’t know how I got to be so lucky, meeting you and getting to look after Alexis. I’m blessed for sure.”
“I think Alexis and I are. I was really lucky. I got a nanny with benefits.”
Karly beamed and then made a mock shocked face to pretend what I’d said was scandalous. “You are cheeky, Mr. Jacobs. Do you like being at the center of a high-class scandal?”
“I do, especially when the nanny I’m tapping puts out so well. She’s an absolute dream in the bedroom. God, if you only knew how crazy she gets me.”
Karly gazed into my eyes, knowing the chemistry and love we had was real. She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, and she looked radiant. I was super glad Mom had interrupted us, taking Alexis out for the day. Maybe she had known we needed space. Sometimes, I really thought she planned things that way.
Karly and I held each other and kissed more deeply. The passion between us was electric. It was the most beautiful moment I’d ever shared with another human being, apart from the day Alexis had been born.
Thank you, universe or God or whoever was in charge up there. You really came through for me this time. Wow, I was super impressed.
Chapter 28
Karly
It was almost silent, not a noise from anywhere apart from the sound of our breathing. No patter of Alexis running around or the sound of the TV, which was muted, and no noise of traffic from the street below us. We were in the midst of a tranquil Saturday evening. We were slumped on the couch, and I was draped over Damon’s body. The heat from him flowed into the side of my face as I listened to the beating of his heart.
Damon’s T-shirt pulled tight against his barreled chest. My fingers traced the contours of his muscles. His sensual nipple was pushing against the fabric of his shirt. The tip of my index finger circled his small bud. He smiled softly and ran his fingers through my hair. His hand fell to my shoulder, and his strong fingers sent shivers up my spine as he stroked my bare arm.
“We should take advantage of this silence,” Damon said.
I rolled my head onto his chest and looked into his eyes. The reflection of the silent TV glinted in them. “I thought we were,” I replied.
“I mean we should take full advantage of this silence.”
I understood what he meant. Doing the wild thing was on his mind. I giggled and ran my hand down to his crotch. His manhood twitched as I cupped and caressed him.
“Is this what you meant?”
