This made me laugh. "But you’re enjoying it, though?"

"I love it—challenging but thrilling. It’s what I’ve always wanted, and I just realize it more and more every single day."

I was incredibly happy to hear this but couldn’t help but feel a bit worried now that she was no longer personally working with Lucien.

"Is his new assistant competent?" I asked, and she gave me a look.

"If he isn’t, you want to apply for the job?"

"Why can’t I?" I asked.

"Trust me, I’m probably just as attached to the position, so you can imagine how hard it was for me to let it go. But I assure you, James is extremely efficient and almost anal about his work, so your fiancé is being very well taken care of."

"Okay," I nodded and patted my stomach a bit.

"You’re showing a bit now," she said, and I nodded.

“Not really. I think this is the food I just ate but by the time the wedding comes around next month, I might. It won’t be very obvious in the dress will it?" I asked, and she smiled.

"You've settled on that dress?"

"No, but I’d like something fitting."

"Understood, and you're good. You look gorgeous."

We shared a smile, and a little while later, we left the store still undecided about the dress.

Michael was waiting for us at the curb. However, while I got in at the back, Sophie went over to the front to chat with him.

"Should I come up for a bit?" I asked when we finally arrived at Lucien's building and she got out.

"I’m not the one you should be asking," she said, and I nodded.

"Right. I have a few pictures from the store to show him as well, but I know how busy he usually is at this time."

"Right," she said. "Still, come up if you can. It’ll be a surprise, plus it would be good for me to visit him and my old office again. You won’t believe how impossible it is to see him now that I don’t work directly for him anymore."

I felt a bit apologetic about this because even though I knew being involved with the marketing team was something she’d always wanted, I was also very well aware that ultimately her decision to leave was because of my relationship with Lucien.

We remained silent until we arrived in his office and I couldn’t help but feel nervous. I could feel the smiles sent at Sophie and the curious ones given to me as we passed by some staff and it made me sigh.

“They know don’t they?” I asked and she nodded.

“Of course, especially after I came back with my hair. I knew from the start that the hair was what was going to foil our plan.”

“Well, I don’t have any complaints. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending.”

“Neither could I,” she said just as we arrived at the office.

The secretary was not at his desk but his new personal assistant James immediately looked up as we arrived, and for a short moment he was surprised as he looked between me and Sophie.

“Hey James,” she greeted but it took him a while to respond. “This is my sister, Scarlett.”

He nodded then, obviously completely aware of all that had transpired but still surprised.

“I knew you two looked alike but …”

“I know,” Sophie smiled. “It’s uncanny."
