“Can I just ask you one thing?”

I nod, tears pricking at my eyes.

He gets up and kisses me sweetly.

“Can we please not have a horse wedding? I love the things, but…”

Giggling, I throw my arms around him and give him a big smacking kiss on the cheek. “I make no promises.”

“Guess that calls for a celebration then,” Clayton says.

His tan hand reaches over to his messenger bag beside the bed and comes out with confetti. He throws it up and it sprinkles down on us, showering us with pink shine.

If I didn’t know any better, I would say it was as if our hearts were shedding their last defenses and spraying tears of joy.
