I roll to my side, quickly snatching it off the nightstand and unlocking it. A smile spreads across my face as I notice the new message from Audrey.
Audrey
Good morning! I hope I didn’t keep you awake too late last night.
Connor
Morning, beautiful. No, you didn’t, but the lack of sleep would be worth it.
Audrey
Charmer.
Connor
Only for you.
Audrey and I have texted back and forth over the last couple of days, but that isn’t enough for me. I spend most of my days chatting with her, and when I’m not texting her, I’m thinking about her. It’s like every minute of my day is filled with nothing but her. I know I said I wanted to take things slow, to take my time getting to know her, but all my plans went out the window the moment we kissed. I’ve wanted to kiss her since the moment I laid eyes on her in the café. I had planned for it to be a tentative kiss, a quick brush of our lips to take the edge off, but the moment I placed my lips against hers, my world was set on fire.
Connor
Do you have any plans for the day besides unpacking?
Audrey
Bristol wasn’t feeling well today, so I’m going to head in to teach her class this afternoon. Do you think Jade would mind keeping Love company before dance class this afternoon? I can drop them both off.
Connor
Do pigs fly? Of course. I’ll let her know Love is able to hang out. She’s been champing at the bit to come over again. She misses her friend.
Audrey
We just saw you guys a few days ago.
Connor
What can I say? You ladies are memorable. I can drop Jade off on my way to work this morning.
Audrey
You’re the best. Thank you.
I chuckle softly as I throw my legs over the edge of the bed and make my way into the bathroom. I take care of business before quickly hopping into the shower and getting ready for the day, all thoughts of taking my dick in my hands forgotten. Audrey is going to be at Nurture Space today, which gives me the perfect excuse to come see her.
It’s almost unnatural how attracted I am to a woman I just met, but there is something about her that keeps drawing me closer to her. Suddenly, I could see a future with her. Lazy afternoons spent cuddling on the couch, watching movies with the girls, family vacations to the coast, quiet nights spent watching the stars and making plans for our future… things that I always imagined I’d be doing with Lydia.
I meant every word I said to her about Lydia. I will always love her, but I’m not looking for someone toreplace her. Lydia will forever be a part of the man I’ve become, but for the first time, I’m able to imagine what my life could look like if I opened my heart to someone else.
After finishing in the shower, I pull on some clothes and make a beeline for Jade’s room. I knock loudly, hoping she’s already awake, but that would be too much to ask. “Jade. Are you awake?”
“Depends. What do you want?” Jade mutters, no doubt still bundled up in her bed.
“Audrey texted and said Love would like some company today while she’s at work.” I knock again, hoping to entice her to get out of bed.
I hear a loud thud a few moments before her door flies open. “I require coffee and donuts. I’ll be ready in ten minutes.”
“Deal. I need to stop and grab some stuff for the guys this morning anyway.”
