James was done with his dessert as well and we took our dishes to the kitchen, thanking the two staff there that were prepping for the next day.
I stopped and stared at the one woman, waiting until she looked at me. “Tell Nick I want some ideas on how to give you guys a bit of time off.”
“I’m sorry, Princess?” she hedged.
“You guys need a break. You only get some after there’s a lot of crazy, but you—you guys work harder than I do keeping this castle together and fed. So talk about it together and get me a plan of how you can have a break. Do you want a week of no dinners or breakfast so you can sleep in or have your nights off? Or like a few days where we go other places for food. Something.”
“I will let him know. My vote would be a full day of nothing and then a week of lunches handled. That would be easiest for everyone here and give us some real downtime.”
“Good, let me know what you all vote for.” I thanked her and then walked off with James.
“No one else works as hard as you, Inez,” James argued when we were almost to my tower.
I snorted. “I need more sleep than all of you. I use more power or do things that others can’t. I know I work hard, but they never stop in the kitchen and take special orders or jump in when someone’s unwell. They’re going to break.”
“Yeah, everyone in the castle is a bit spoiled. I’ve done it too. It’s just so fucking nice after shit buckets and lean times on the ship. I just want to revel in some spoiling.”
“Agreed. Full stop, I agree, and they do spoil us. They don’t even mind it and Nick eats up the love and praise from it. But we need to do better by them too. They deserve the spoiling too,” I said firmly.
“They really do. I agree about the lunches. Someone is always swinging by one outpost or now the protected human camps. We can figure out something better.”
I totally agreed, hitting the button for my elevator as my mind raced with ideas.
“Hold up, we’ve gotta say goodnight,” James chuckled, snaking his arm around me and pulling me back against him.
“Oh no, you’re coming upstairs,” I purred, smirking up at his shocked face. “I’m thirsty.” He was so shocked that his arm moved and I was able to slide out of his hold. I stepped on the elevator and smirked at him. “You said you would give me whatever I needed, right?”
He snapped out of his surprise and came closer, moving just past the door but not able to touch me. “I don’t think this is smart, sexy bite.”
“First, you have to think of a new name for me,” I told him, shrugging when he was shocked again. “Your brother still calls me that and has been calling me it longer. Let’s not have Vance on my mind on dates and stuff, okay?”
He cleared his throat and looked a bit guilty like he should have thought of that. “Yeah, fair.”
I chuckled when the elevator opened, brushing past him to get off. “And you’re not getting sex. You don’t remotely deserve sex already after what you’ve put me through.”
“No, I really don’t,” he agreed… But still followed after me.
Maybe there was hope yet for the idiot.
Probably not.
I went in my closet and changed into a sexy nightgown before coming into his view again. He swallowed loudly as I approached and I fucking loved it. “Kneel for me, Alpha—clan leader.”
