“How do you know?” she asked seriously. “You have not met the others.”

“I know,” was all he said.

“Only because I had the support of my courageous Shadow.”

“You created your own greatness, Heba.”

“Because you gave me the confidence and space to do so.”

He held her tighter, as if he could squeeze the argument out of her.

“There’s no debating you,” he huffed.

“I feel optimistic about the longevity of our marriage since you recognize this fundamental fact,” she quipped.

He silenced her teasing with a long, sensual morning kiss.

Which led to a long, sensual morning fuck.

After they finally cooked and ate their breakfast, and Shai flew Heba to the library, landing a few blocks away, hidden from view, they prepared to go their separate ways for the day.

“I love you, my Shai,” she smiled in goodbye.

“I love you more,” he replied readily.

She beamed with unfettered happiness.

“I love you most,” she vowed.

Shai stood there watching her walk toward the town library.

He would never tire of watching her. He would always protect her, first from the shadows, and now in the light.

Their love was a secret. And now it was revealed. Like a rosebud finally exposed to the nourishing sun and life-giving rain.

Finally free to bloom.

He would never take it for granted. He would always cherish and protect it.

For, out of all that she had given him, across all of their past and the future yet to come, her love was by far the greatest Gift of all.
