“What do you mean?” Hannah asked.

“You only bought this house eighteen months ago when you moved from Key West to Palm Beach,” Steph commented. “Will Vincent live with you here?”

“We haven’t really spoken about it,” Hannah admitted. “But I guess it would be the most logical choice, as he has an apartment along the waterfront in West Palm Beach.”

“For an engaged couple, you live quite far apart,” Steph said.

“It’s not that far.” Hannah shrugged. “It’s only about sixteen miles, and the driving time is about twenty minutes.”

“Where is the hospital that you both work at?” Steph followed Hannah back to the center block when the kettle whistled and sat on the tall, white-backed bar stool.

“In the middle.” Hannah switched off the stove and poured boiling water into the cup with the tea bag. She picked up the mug and put it in front of Steph. “It’s a fifteen-minute drive for me and ten for him.”

Hannah got the honey from a cupboard and put it on the counter. She poured herself a cup of coffee and added some milk before sitting on the opposite side of the counter to Steph.

“Mom!” Liam rushed into the kitchen. “You must see our rooms.”

“They’re awesome,” Tammy said, following her cousin into the kitchen.

“I’m glad you like them,” Hannah said with a warm smile. “Do you want something to drink or eat?”

“Yes, please,” Liam said. “I’m starved.”

“I don’t have much,” Hannah confessed. “I thought your mom and I could go to the store, but we can order something for now.”

They settled on pizza, and Hannah ordered it.

“Where’s Jack?” Steph asked Liam.

“He’s speaking to Dad,” Liam told her. “I said hi and told him we were here safe.”

“Good.” Steph smiled and looked at Tammy. “Did you call your mom?”

“Yup!” Tammy nodded. “She’s happy we’re safe and gave me the ‘be good’ lecture.”

“While we wait for the pizza, can we go see the games room?” Liam asked.

“Of course,” Hannah told him. “Make yourselves at home. If you want to swim, you’ll find towels in the pool room.”

“Great!” Tammy said as Liam rushed from the kitchen with Tammy hot on his heels.

“Where do they get all that energy from?” Hannah blew out a breath.

“You have a lot of inside space for them to explore.” Steph laughed at the expression on her sister’s face. “They’ll be exploring the grounds next.”

“There’s a stable at the back of my property,” Hannah told her. “I’ll take them horse riding before you leave.”

“They’d love that,” Steph assured her, pouring honey into her tea and taking a sip.

The warm ginger brew settled her queasy stomach.

“It was nice of Lorry to let you leave on such short notice.” Hannah grinned, referencing their oldest sister.

“I think she wanted me out of the way so she could try and stop or at least stall the hotel upgrade project.” Steph laughed. “She doesnotlike Tom or his father, James.”

“Lorry doesn’t take to change very well.” Hannah pursed her lips and raised her eyebrows. “She’s been through so much of it in her life that she tries to control what she can.”

“Like being a sergeant major running our family hotel.” Steph laughed.
