Ais is mine.

"I'm gonna go meet him downstairs," Rook says. "Don't know if he's sure where we are."

"He knows," Luka says. "He always knows where his people are."

Rook still heads downstairs, leaving the three of us behind. Luka shakes his head. "I hope he doesn't kill you, newbie," Luka murmurs.

I take Aisling's hand.

"If he's that angry, we'll get out of town," I mutter. "We've already discussed it."

"If he lets you," Luka shoots back.

We don't have another moment to second guess our choices--because Vance Solace, kingpin and alpha of alphas, steps in like he owns every inch of the old wood floor under his polished shoes. His long dark hair is brushed back from his face, beard perfectly groomed, bright blue eyes discerning. His beta bodyguards trail behind him, eyes sharp, hands resting near hidden weapons. Me and Aisling stand up, Luka staying by the window while Rook comes in beside Vance.

"Morning," Vance says, voice cool as ice.

"Boss," I nod, my pulse ticking up a notch. He doesn't travel light unless there's trouble brewing. And right now, he looks like trouble's best friend.

His gaze cuts through the room, slicing past me, past Luka with his tattoos curling out from under his rolled sleeves, and lands on Aisling.Star.She stands there with her chin lifted, staring down Vance like she's the one with all the leverage.

In a way, I guess she is.

She has information he wants.

"So this is her, huh? The girl who has all my men in a twist," Vance says.

"I'm right here," she murmurs. "And yeah...I guess that's me. My name is Aisling, if you even care--"

"As far as I'm concerned, your name is trouble." His eyes dart down to her neck, to a fading mark that sits heavy on my chest. "Well, shit…you already fucked her, huh? That complicates things."

Heat creeps up my neck. "We're not giving her back, are we?"

Vance doesn't answer straight away. Instead, he steps closer to Star and in one swift move, grabs her, pulling her against him. She lets out a huff, her eyes wide with shock. My muscles coil, ready to pounce, but Rook's hand shoots out and grabs me.

His firm grip on my shoulder is a silent command—stay put.

"See that?" Vance points at the tattoo barely visible above her collarbone, his fingers brushing her skin just enough to make her shiver.

I clench my jaw. "I've seen it."

"Of course you have," Vance drawls, his bright blue eyes flickering with something dark. "Because you put your fucking bite on it. That is an Eclipse brand, Finch. That means your girl's got a debt to our rivals. You know what fucking her could mean for us all? It could cause an all-out war."

"I have information," she says. "You want it. And if they get me back...if they smell Angel alphas on me, they'll know you know everything."

Vance snarls and releases her, thrusting her back toward me. I catch her, holding her tight against my chest, feeling her tremble despite how calm she seemed. She's a good actress--but she can't be that tough.

No one can, when they're face to face with Vance Solace.

"Talk," Vance commands, his voice a low growl. "I want every filthy detail about Dreamland and the Eclipse."

"I overheard a conversation between Caius Rossi and some other players," she says. "I don't know who they were, exactly--but I'll tell you everything. I was close."

"Close?" Vance snaps his gaze to Aisling, who stands defiant under his scrutiny. "Close how?"

"Close enough to see the rot in their core," she replies, her voice steady despite the tension that vibrates in the room. "But I want assurances first."

"Assurance...shit, you're more than meets the eye, aren't you?" Vance's laugh is a sharp bark, devoid of humor.
