“Will you look like this forever?” Michelle asks. “I will need to give you a check up as soon as I can get into the med bay. The Chief Medic is a bit territorial from what I hear.” They begin to talk Obstetrics.

“She just got knocked up.” Yaretzi complains as Michelle leads Maryellen to a table. We all just follow behind. “She has nine to ten months to eat and rest. I want to know what that guy did to you. Spill the beans.”

“Well, first off. It may not be a full nine month pregnancy.” Maryellen reveals. “Rin’On says that Caeterin pregnancies last only six months.”

“Really?” Cara pipes up. “Well, ain’t that a bit of a humdinger. I know my mama would have liked to have short pregnancies. Cissy nearly drove her crazy in her eighth month with her kicking and moving. Mama told the doc to tie her tubes so tight nothing got through for the last eight years. Daddy appreciated that because five kids was enough he said.”

“My papá would not ever be satisfied with so few babies.” Victoria stated a discussion of whose mom had what kind of pregnancy broke out. It was looking like it could get heated between Victoria and Yaretzi, when Maryellen shut it down…tactfully, I might add. That woman is perfect. I hope Tet and Tan don’t expect me to be perfect like Maryellen. That is just too high a bar.

“Well, I just hope that this pregnancy is only six months. Jaycee cooked for nine and a half, so I think six sounds heavenly.” Maryellen says.

“Now, I really want to give you a check up,” Michelle says. “If you can pop in six months and the father is so big, this baby will grow quickly. We will want to monitor you for most of the pregnancy. It will help in future pregnancies. Especially, if you two chose to have more children… I mean, younglings…that is.”

“Let’s get through this one first. Six months is a long ways away and we don’t know where we will be then,” Maryellen states with a chuckle. I wonder if I could have children with Tet and Tan. Would they all be twins?

No, my heart, only males come as twins. Females are always singles. Tan lets me know smugly that he heard my thoughts. However, I am glad that you are thinking of the possibility. I look forward to fucking you while you are large with our younglings.

Shit, that sounds amazing, then I start blushing as I remember where I am as squeeze my thighs together. You need to quit listening in, it is rude, I tell him. I feel his humor.

My heart, I can only hear you and you broadcast so loud. That is when I block him again.

We continue to eat and chat. There is good natured teasing of the newly married Maryellen. As much as can happen with a four-year-old in the room. Then Victoria gets her nose in a twist and makes a stupid comment that gets Yaretzi riled. Seriously, I like Victoria, but she is going to have to lighten up with all that Catholic guilt crap. We aren’t on Earth and the only mating material don’t have a clue about Judeo-Christian tradition. Then Maryellen shuts it down…Told you, she is perfect…

“Ladies, we are all going to have to find a way to live and live well in this new circumstances. None of us are where we planned to be this time last year. I mean, I don’t think any of us had a clue this could happen…”

“I could,” a soft voice at the end of the table almost whispered. All of our heads snap around as we realize that Millie just spoke. Half the time I forget Millie is there because she is so quiet.

“You could, Millie?” Maryellen asks. “How could you have imagined this?” She gave a shy smile and shrugged a bit.

“Because I read alien and monster romance books.” We lean forward to listen because her voice is almost too soft. “Also, I used to write them, until the fantasy of being abducted became a bit too real.”

“Good for you, girl!” I exclaim. “Were they full of weird peens and spicy sex?”

“Ixnay on the exsay, Kels.” Yaretzi nods to Jaycee. Luckily, the kid is playing with her toys, not seeming to pay attention to boring adult talk.

“Oh sorry!” I say with a bit of a wince. “I forgot she was there.”

“It’s OK. She isn’t paying attention to us.” Maryellen then asked Millie, “So, what got you into reading and writing these kind of books?”

Millie begins to tell the story of what got her into writing. Thanks to a friendly librarian, she was able to escape from a bad marriage and had enough money to live off of while she rebuilt her life…Then, like the rest of us her stories of alien abductions became real.

Millie is telling her story to a rapt audience, when suddenly we hear an explosion then feel the shaking of the ship. An alarm then sounds and we are all wide eyed when Maryellen comes through again. “Ladies! Remain calm and wait for instructions.”

“Approaching GFC Station 5, please stay at your stations until connection, unless in section 2…Section 2 evacuate to Section 4 Officer’s Mess and secure our guests for landing…”

Within a few moments, several crew members enter the mess and gesture for us to come to the walls where seats pop out, and we are strapped in. Not all the crew members are walking properly, a few look a bit worse for wear. They stumble to the other wall or are helped to the wall where they are strapped in. All the women look at those injured crew members helplessly.

“What happened?” I hear Maryellen ask, as we are all being strapped into the jump seats along the wall

“Explosion in section 2, my lady,” The crewmember quietly states.

“There are injured here. What can we do to help?” Maryellen asks, always thinking of others. Maybe, when I grow up, I can be like her.

“There are dead and those injured far worse than these males, my lady,” He states. “There are medics getting the living to medical. They will tend these when we have landed. You just need to stay here. We don’t need you females getting hurt as we get this old lady into the spaceport. It is going to be a bit bumpy.” With that the ship begins to shake and roll. I am glad we are strapped in. Bumpy is definitely an understatement, as the movement tosses us around like laundry in the dryer. Without the straps, we would hit the ceiling, then the floor, then the ceiling again, I am pretty sure. While a few of the women looked a little green around the gills, we all appear to be ok.

My heart, are you alright? Tan and Tet ask together.

Well, I didn’t barf, but that landing could have been a little smoother, I respond.
