“You do? How did you come to this conclusion, Commander?” Tan asks in his rough voice.
“My beast goes crazy in the mother’s presence, sir. I will need to get really close to her and scent her to confirm this suspicion. However, I have very serious feelings for her and the child, like it is my duty… and my honor to protect them both.” He is so earnest, Brother. I fear he truly has found his mate. My brother is amused.
“Then go scent her and take her as your mate!” I am happy to let the commander have his mate. So many of us will not have this wonderful gift. a true gift, my brother echoes.
“Sir, in my dealings with humans, particularly, Admiral Car’Athos’s mate, Elizabeth, I have found that they are not used to having strange males scent them.” He explains, “As I have just met this human, I will need to… I believe the word is ‘court’ her, before she will let me get close enough to verify that she is my true mate.”

“Very well, you can let them bunk in three of the lesser officer cabins, move those officers into your extra crew bunks, and you will show the females the most private route to the officer’s mess. I will not have them traipsing all over my ship. Is that understood?”
They shouldn’t even be on a ship. My brother says to me.
You may be correct but we have no choice. Besides there is more to think of at this time than what we want to do. I continue to look at the commander.
“Yes, sir.” He salutes and makes his way to the exit
“And Max?” I stop him as a solution may present itself.
“Yes, Captain?”
“One last thing. Find out if that female is your mate and deal with it.” I smile at him. “We may need to see all these females mated to protect them.”
“Yes Sir! I will work towards this goal.” Another salute and he exits.
You sure there is no way we can get rid of them. My twin muses. I feel a sense of unease with having all these females on board.
I feel it too, I agree with him, There is something different happening. It is like our destiny is entwined with this mission…with these humans.
Maybe we should house the females in the brig and reduce the number of crew members who are exposed to their influence. I chuckle.

Well, this sucks. Not only did I get abducted on my birthday and found myself on an alien starship with no hope of ever going home, but I can’t even get off this stupid ship until they figure out how to stop the assholes from abducting human women. Maybe then I can figure out my new life.
I liked my old one. I mean, it wasn’t perfect, but I was doing alright. I have a double BS in astronomy and astrophysics, and just one more semester to my masters. I like physics and astronomy; my mathematical skills are amazing. I would have gone on to get a honors fellowship to help pay for my doctorate, but, well, an alien abduction put a stop to that idea.
