“My mother would have been horrified if I didn’t act professionally in a government forum.” I am puffed up a bit by the fact that my mates’ fathers were “impressed”. “I was raised properly. Even if I chafe at the stupid things people expect of me.”
“I understand this,” Teyana agrees. “I hate Council meetings, but still need to be the perfect mate for my mates. This is why I just do not go.” We start giggling at our own unsaid pact.
“I had to be there this time and anytime they are discussing humans.” I smile like maybe this will work out.
I am glad you think so, my heart, Tet states smugly in my head.
Go away! I am not talking to you right now, I think back, my scowl obvious.
“So, my boys have a fairly strong link to you?” Teyana smiles. “Think how lovely it will be when you can wreak havoc with them from afar.”
“You can do that?” I ask.
“ Oh, yes, yes I can,” She smirks. “Fenn and Fade have had to learn to keep still while I play with them during meetings.”
“I thought you could shut off the link?” I am intrigued.
“Yes and no.” Her eyes wink merrily. “After you are claimed, they will still feel your emotions even if you block your thoughts. So if you were to …say…pleasure yourself during one of their dull meetings…”
“OMG!!! That sounds like fun!” I squeal, “though don’t tell me anymore, because that may just be too much information from the mother of my mates.” OK, fucking with their meetings sounds like a great reason to let them claim me. Not really, but I do like that pair of sticks in the mud.

You blocked Tet, but I can still hear your thoughts, Tan sends an air of smugness. That is when I block him. I really have to get better at blocking.
Teyana continue our conversation as we walk through the promenade of the city. Our guards seem a bit uneasy with the crowds of people that are filling the streets. We continue down, but they stop us and look at Teyana. The large Minotaur-looking dude speaks.
“Lady Teyana, I would suggest we head back to your quarters. The crowd is not looking too friendly.” Just as he says that, a fight starts up ahead of us and quickly turns into a melee. As the fight grows, the guards are being jostled around while Teyana and I try to quickly move between them. Before I get a chance to move into the protective circle of our guards, I feel a familiar prick on my neck. I see Teyana grabbing me as I go down.
“Ah, fuck. Not again.” And the world goes black.
Chapter Twenty-Eight

“My Lord, we got one!” The excited minion states over the com. I like that I am now referred to as a “Lord”. As head of the An Ratha Family it is only appropriate, but, right now, I am feeling the weight of this responsibility.
“What do you mean, you have one?” I was worried about what I was going to hear next. He is lucky we are on a long distance com or he would see my frown at his bothering me.
“We recaptured one of the females! We got intel that she was going to be in the shopping district with the mate of the former Akkadianan Council, Lady Teyana.” He sounds so smug, the cretin.
“You mean the mate of the Alkadian Command Team of The Patience?” I growl out.
“Nah, boss. She does not have the mating bite.” He is clueless, and he just kept talking… “She was just wandering around with the lady and her guards. It was great! We had Bhud punch a Gontoran and it started an amazing riot. It allowed B’kee to sneak in tranq her. It was flawless!... Well, almost.” He pauses.
“M’Quu, what happened?” My fingers pinch my nose ridge as a headache threatens.
“Well, my Lord.” He hesitates.”She just would not let go of the human and we tried to pull her off.” My brain hurts, this is bad really bad.
“M’Quu, I am afraid to ask, but WHAT. DID. YOU. DO?”
“Do not worry, boss. We will take care of the old female!”
“WHAT.. DID.. YOU.. DO?” I repeat.
“We will find a way to extract her and leave her somewhere for the night guard to find. But she just keeps clinging to the human. Who knew an old female would be so strong. We can not extract her!” I can hear a note in the idiot’s voice that he is starting to understand the trouble he is causing me.
