“It wasn’t a question of my being right or your being wrong,” Logan said. “I’m not looking for an apology.”

Abby’s lips trembled and she bit into the bottom corner. “I know that. But I felt I owed you one.”

“No.” He stood, and with one hand in his pocket paced the width of the carpet. “That’s not what I wanted to hear. I told you to call me when you were sure it was me you wanted and not Tate.” His eyes rested on her, his expression hooded.

Abby stood, unable to meet his gaze. “I am sure,” she breathed. “I know it’s you I want.”

His mouth quirked in what could have been a smile, but he didn’t acknowledge her confession.

“You have every right to be angry with me.” She couldn’t look at him, afraid of what she’d see. If he were to reject her now, Abby didn’t think she could stand it. “I’ve missed you so much,” she mumbled. Her cheeks flamed with color, and she couldn’t believe how difficult this was. She felt tears in her eyes as she bowed her head.

“Abby.” Logan’s arms came around her shoulders, bringing her within the comforting circle of his arms. He lifted her chin and lovingly studied her face. “You’re sure?”

The growing lump in her throat made speech impossible. She nodded, letting all the love in her eyes say the words.

“Oh Abby…” He claimed her lips with a hungry kiss that revealed the depth of his feelings.

Slipping her arms around his neck, Abby felt him shudder with a longing he’d suppressed all these months. He buried his face in the dark waves of her hair and held her so tightly it was difficult to breathe.

“I’ve been so wrong about so many things,” she confessed, rubbing her hands up and down his spine, reveling in the muscular feel of him.

Lowering himself to the sofa, Logan pulled Abby onto his lap. His warm breath was like a gentle caress as she wound her arms around his neck and kissed him, wanting to make up to him for all the pain she’d caused them both. The wild tempo of her pulse made clear thought impossible.

Finally, Logan dragged his mouth from hers. “You’re sure?” he asked, as if he couldn’t quite believe it.

Abby pressed her forehead against his shoulder and nodded. “Very sure. I was such a fool.”

His arm held her securely in place. “Tell me more. I’m enjoying this.”

Unable to resist, Abby kissed the side of his mouth. “I thought you would.”

“So you missed me?”

“I was miserable.”

“Good!”

“Logan,” she cried softly. “It wouldn’t do you any harm to tell me how lonely you were.”

“I wasn’t,” he said jokingly.

Involuntarily, Abby stiffened and swallowed back the hurt. “I know. Patty mentioned that you’d taken her to the Twins game.”

Logan smiled wryly. “We went with several other people.”

“It bothers me that you could see someone else so soon.”

“Honey.” His hold tightened around her waist, bringing her closer. “It wasn’t like what you’re thinking.”

“But…you said you weren’t lonely.”

“How could I have been? I saw you Tuesday and then at the game on Wednesday.”

“I know, but—”

“Are we going to argue?”

“A thousand kisses might convince me,” she teased, and rested her head on his shoulder.
