But, the clock ran down before they could get their momentum back. We waited with Reid for Kylie in the hallway where we had talked Res and Miranda earlier, when the team came down the hall and piled into the locker room.A few of the guys patted Sebastian on the back as he passed. Green eyes locked with mine right before he disappeared from sight.

Reid let out a sigh. “Great. I'm really going to get a spanking for this one,” she muttered as Jessa burst out in loud laughter. “I hope you two work this out, because now I’m going to make my fiancé get over another of his issues.”

“Oh, this is turning out even better than I ever thought it would! Can you imagine? Mr. Tall, Dark, and DaddyandMr. Tall, Dark and Asshole in the same space? Can we watch? Like crazy stalkers?”

“Jessa!” Reid and I exclaimed at the same time.

“What? Come on, the possibilities! My ovaries would explode. You know you thought about it!”

CHAPTER 13

SEBASTIAN

Four days later…

“Dude, stop moping. Plus, we ran twenty ‘two’ points, and I am fucking famished.”

Ty talked me into going to The Prickly Pear on the same night I knew Maddie sometimes went, for the first time in almost two months. The first time I saw her here the week after our night together, I almost left the minute I spotted her. But, instead, I stayed in the corner where she couldn’t see me while Ty ordered carry-out, then made me take him back to my place with all the damn food.

It became our new routine.

Catch a glance of my Ember, order takeout, eat at my place.

Guy looked like he was starving and hadn’t seen a taco in years. But, he always ordered extra pom guac. I had a sneaking suspicion he paid for Maddie’s usual take home order of it, too.

But, tonight he wore me down. And here I was. After losing game one by only a few points, heading into a bar that bled Fury’s colors.

To say I was slightly terrified was an understatement. Especially if Frankie, the bartender and biggest Fury fan, was going to be pissed at me. Guy might deny me my pom guac.

“You’realwaysfamished, Simmons. And those conversions will pay off at least once in your career. Could be the thing that gets a ring on that hand.”

“Aw, and here I thought you were proposing.”

“Not until you promise me you don’t snore. Deal breaker.”

“I’ll never tell.”

I chuckled as he opened the door. The usual Thursday night crowd milled around the bar, standing or seated at tables scattered throughout. When we stepped in, Frankie said our names loudly, and I cringed inwardly, but the smiles and cheers felt like we had won.

“No one expected that kind of showing. Good game, Lockwood. You too, Simmons.”

“Thanks. QB has been feeling down. Pom guac?”

He chuckled. “Nicky headed to the kitchen the minute she saw you through the front window. It’s coming right up. Usual?”

“Frankie, you’re the best.”

Ty glanced around, but all the tables were taken. He shrugged. “Bar?”

“Why the fuck not?”

One order of pom guac and two drinks later, Ty excused himself. “Be back in a sec.”

I toyed with the napkin, soggy from my beer, not bothering to look around. I already knew Maddie wasn’t here, because I’d been checking for the last 40m minutes.

“She’s not coming.”

My head dropped. Fuck. “Hey, big brother. Fuck off.”
