“Of course she is,” he replied smugly.

“Can I go to sleep now?” Rebelle could hear how pissy she sounded.

“You’re in bed too?” he asked, his voice dipping the way it had yesterday when she was talking him through his-

“Yep!” she cut off her thoughts, heat suffusing her cheeks. He pulled the phone back and she could see his bare shoulders and chest.

“I’m in my bed. You’re in your bed. Kinda feels like one of us is in the wrong bed…” he trailed off, his eyelids dipped suggestively, and she felt it all the way to her toes.

“Sounds like we’re in exactly the right beds to me. Good night, William,” she said, tersely.

He grunted and raked a hand across his chest and she saw it travel to the ring through his nipple and he tugged gently.

“If you’re looking to keep this strictly professional then don’t call me William in that tone. It gets me all riled up.” His voice dropped a few octaves and suddenly the blankets were too much for her, she kicked them off.

“That’s enough of that,” she mumbled, not making eye contact through the phone in case he moved his hands anywhere else.

He smirked. “Sweet dreams, Belle.” There was so much insinuation in his tone that she pursed her lips to fight back a moan. His laugh echoed around her room until she ended the call. Parfait, disappointed that her hero didn’t materialize, went back to her kittens.

Rebelle lay there in the dark but sleep was gone from her. She shifted her legs restlessly as images of Will flooded her mind and her breathing grew labored. Her hand trailed down her damp skin and her eyes fluttered closed as she pictured him how he’d been last night, his face basked in pleasure, his eyes begging her.

A deep pulsing between her legs had a hand fisting the sheets as the other slid from her stomach to the seam of her panties. She hovered there, playing with the material, in two minds. She hadn’t done this for a very long time.

Eventually her hand dipped beneath the edge and found her wet center. She circled around her clit, her breath releasing in a deep sigh as more images of Will invaded her mind. She worked faster, her hips lifting to meet her hand, her body moving in sync.

She could feel it building, far too quickly and the image of him watching himself orgasm threw her violently over the edge. She cried out as her climax slammed through her, her body seizing then releasing for an endless time.

She lay there, trying to catch her breath but it evaded her and soon her breath grew more labored as she tried to restrain the emotions flooding her. She fought to control her lungs, taking deep breaths and trying to beat back the emotion rising in her throat and choking her. She couldn’t swallow it down and she burst into tears. She sobbed, loud and messy, not able to control herself. Bryan must have heard her as he came stumbling into the room and heaved himself onto the bed. Rebelle grabbed him and buried her face in his wiry fur.

Her eyes finally drifted closed when she exhausted herself and a final thought floated through her mind just before sleep claimed her.I wish Will was here…

Chapter 14

A loud banging woke her and she bolted upright in bed, her heart thudding in her chest and dislodging Bryan in the process.

“Rebelle!” a voice shouted. Was that Justine?

“Oh God,” Rebelle groaned, relaxing slightly. Realizing she had overslept on shopping day, she stumbled out of bed. “I’ll be just a minute!” she called through the front door.

She ran around the home, getting ready, pausing as she looked in the drawer at her sparse clothing and grabbed them all in her arms. She carried them through the kitchen and dumped them all in the metal trash can. The clang of the lid closing rang through the home, filling her with a deep sense of satisfaction. After today, she would never have to wear someone else’s discarded clothes again.

She regarded the canine who traipsed behind her. “Come on you, back to the shelter.” Bryan grumbled and reluctantly followed her out. She opened the door and found Christy, Justine and Taylor all standing there with big grins on their faces.

“It’s shopping day!” Taylor cheered and they revealed the party poppers they’d brought with them. After a loud bang that didn’t startle Rebelle as much as she expected, confetti rained over her, the ribbons of it gliding down her face and settling in her hair.

She sighed but was secretly pleased at their enthusiasm to spend time with her. “You’re morning people, aren’t you?”

“We sure are, darlin’!” Christy crowed.

“Let’s get this show on the road, we’ve got some damage to do.” Taylor turned towards the car parked outside.

“He picked a good one,” Justine said quietly as the others moved on.

Rebelle glanced back at the trailer. “Yeah, he did.”

Justine’s lips twitched. “I meant you.” She headed after the others, jumping into the driver’s side, her big belly just about squeezing behind the wheel. Rebelle paused, mulling over Justine’s words before shaking them off and shutting Bryan back in the shelter.

When she came back to the car, Christy and Taylor were grinning at her from the back seats. Rebelle settled herself inside then jumped at the sound of a cork popping.
