With Cheyenne’s hand on my arm, I headed toward the fancy car waiting to take us to my cabin, where everyone would join us to party into the night. Well, our version of partying, which was basically eating junk food, drinking beer, and maybe having a quick jam session, if the musicians would go for it.

“We’re married,” Cheyenne said once we were buckled in and on our way.

One of Jasper’s employees was driving us. He gave us our privacy, though, focusing on the road.

“Is it bad that I’m already looking forward to tonight?” I asked.

Cheyenne’s smile faded a little. “Tonight?”

“When our friends and family go home and we can finally get some alone time.”

Her smile returned again. “I think you’ve just described my perfect night. Hanging out with friends at home, then getting alone time with you.”

“Alone time that lasts until morning, maybe,” I added.

“Hours and hours of…alone time,” she said.

I had to cut off my flirtation there. If not, I might end up making love to her in this backseat with the driver uncomfortably trying to pretend it wasn’t happening.

But as he pulled into our driveway, warmth settled into my heart. Home. Our home. Yes, it was that place I’d built when I first moved here, long before I’d met Cheyenne. But it was like I was destined to be with this woman. I’d chosen her. I’d moved to her hometown and bought a place that was the perfect size to house the two kids we hoped to have someday. I was even planning to put up a little fence for the dog we’d adopt.

That warmth continued a couple of hours later as we sat, bellies full, in the living room in front of the fire. It was just our closest friends and family gathered here, but the group was still fairly large. We’d had to pull in chairs from all over the house and even then, people were sitting on the floor.

I was seated on the fireplace mantel, guitar on my lap and my bride seated to my right with a big smile on her face. I sang some of my favorites for the group, the other musicians accompanying me, but this new song was something special. Something I’d written just for her. Seeing her face light up as I sang made me happier than I’d ever been as an artist…and as a person.

“You should reach out to some recording labels,” Dax said. He was on the loveseat with his wife, Erika, who’d planned this wedding for us. “I’ll bet there’s a bunch of girls all grown up who’d love a new song from you.”

“You could make bank,” Bo said.

I shook my head. “I have all the money I need. Just being able to sing for my friends and family means everything to me.”

“Me too,” Cheyenne said. “I wouldn’t want to share him with the world.”

She was joking, though. She’d support me in whatever I decided to do, but the fact that I could take care of my family using the investments I’d made off my Unity 4 money made me happy. It made all the struggles I’d gone through worth it.

Yes, this was the happiest I’d ever been. Who knew I’d find that happiness with one of my biggest fans?
