“Something tells me you're stuck with me longer than you planned to be.” His head rubs over my chest and I relax against him. We both go quiet when the credits start, and the first part of the movie has him sniffling. He dries his eyes on my shirt and grabs my thigh, his finger a little too close to my groin. My cock takes notice and I almost think I'll have to disappear to the bathroom to do some breathing exercises of my own.

He goes from crying to laughing, his hand moving lower on my leg before shifting back up, driving me crazy. During the last half of the movie, his breathing is more evened out and he hasn't moved for a long time. His eyes are closed and his lips slightly parted. He's sleeping. As soon as I try to move my arm his eyes open. “Is the movie over?”

“Nope.” I release a shuddering breath. “You fell asleep.”

“Oh. Sorry. I'll try to be a better movie date this time.”

“Movie date?”

“Shh, this is the best part.” His hand now rests on my lower stomach, lifting my shirt enough for his pinky to come in contact with my skin. There goes my damn cock acting like being near people is a new development. I sit next to men during meetings, stand next to ones I'm working with, and pin down others all the time.Get it to-fucking-gether.

“Tony?” His small voice pulls me from my reverie. Is he nicknaming me now?

“It’s Antonio, and what is it now?”

“What made you decide to work for a cartel?”

I move his hand. “It's not really something you decide.”

“So you were forced like me?”

“The answer isn't that simple, burrito. Go to sleep.”

“I have one more question.” He looks up at me, no longer paying attention to the phone screen.

“I doubt it, but let's hear it.” My gaze falls to his hand going back to my stomach and I don't bother moving it again.

“What's your favorite movie?”

“I don't really have one.” Not anymore.

A memory of Lucian flashes in my mind, of him handing me a wrapped gift, eyes lighting up to match the sun.

“Go on. See what I got ya?”

A small white box rests under the paper and inside is aLord of the Ringsbobblehead to complete my collection.

Lucian became a part of everything I loved. Nothing was enjoyable after he left. Not my favorite movie, song, or food. My favorite things disappeared with my favorite person. None of it mattered when he couldn't be part of it anymore.

“I don't believe that.”

“Then don't. No more questions or talking.” That quiets him down and then he's back to watching the movie. My eyes grow heavy and the last thing I remember before my vision goes dark is Phillip's laughter.

Loud banging on the door has me opening my eyes and reaching for my gun. I left it on the floor. Careless. What good is it to me there? Wait. If I'm not on the floor with my gun then that means… I glance down and Phillip is curled up to my side, his eyes closed and sleep lines cover his cheek.

The knock comes again. “Just a minute.”

“Only seeing if you're awake. Your ride is ready for you whenever you're ready to get going,” Angel says, his weight resting on the door.

“Okay. Give us ten minutes.”

“Take your time. It's still early. Breakfast is waiting for you on the table too, along with a special soup for your boy. See you downstairs.”

Next time I look at Phillip, the sheet has fallen a little and his shirt is lifted, exposing his stomach and cute belly button. Something else captures my attention too—strange scars on his side. Before I can examine them closer, Phillip's eyes open.

“We have to leave soon. Get dressed.”

Sitting up slowly, he rubs his eyes and peels the sheet all the way back. His teal underwear stands out against the white linen, leaving little to the imagination.
