“You think he started the fire hoping you were in the house too?”

“I don't know what to think, but I'm not sure how us both being dead would benefit him.”

He tugs at the strands of his hair, unlocking the doors. “Get out.”

“Tony, please.”

“What did I say about calling me that? Now please get out before I force you out.”

“What about Uncle Eddie and my brother?”

“I'll handle it. Now do what I asked.” He reaches over me, opening the door. It swings open at the push of his hand and he unbuckles my seat belt. “You have five seconds to step out.”

“I'm sorry, Daddy. I'm really sorry. I wasn't thinking straight. All I was thinking about was finding you, and nothing else mattered to me.”

“Five.”

“Antonio…”

“Four.”

He keeps counting and my feet hit the concrete by the time he reaches one. “I really am sorry.” He drives off as soon as I close the door, and I stand on the sidewalk holding myself.

A man standing outside the warehouse entrance holds the door open for me, gesturing me inside. “Welcome back, little mule. Hurry up and get your ass inside.”

He guides me back to where I used to sleep and locks the cage door behind him. One of my roommates laughs behind me, flexing his fingers behind his head. “Look who's returned. Where the hell have you been anyway? Warming the bed of one of Zacharias's men? You definitely fit the type.”

“Fuck you,” I stammer, crawling into my bed. Lying down, I face the wall, burying my head under the dirty pillow missing a pillow case. Someone stripped my bed while I was gone and stole all my shit. My sheets and blanket are missing, along with the box of toiletries I had underneath. I really have nothing now. I've messed up everything. I've managed to wound Antonio without using a knife. So many thoughts spin in my head. My brother is alive, Eddie will find me easier here, and Antonio hates me.

Loud screams stir me awake and everyone around me is hiding under their beds. Gunshots go off, followed by cursing and loud screaming. “What's going on?”

“Someone broke into the compound I think,” a frightened voice says.

“Be quiet or you'll lead them here,” another whispers.

“Tell me where he is,” a raspy voice demands. “No one else has to die today.”

“I'll take you to him,” the guard from earlier says, and loud footsteps approach us.

“They're coming here anyway,” says one of the guys from before. “Is it one of us they want?”

The door rattles and the lock clicks open. He's right. They’re coming this way. They wasted no time breaking in here tonight. Did they see me at the club? Are they the reason my brother is pretending not to know me?

I roll under the bed, curling into myself, and a hand grabs me by the ankle, dragging me out from under the bed. My own screams wrap around me and I try to grab anything I can. I press my weight to the floor but I'm lifted anyway, and large arms wrap around my body, overpowering me. “Time to come with us, little one. Your uncle really misses you.”

“No,” I scream and a hand wraps around my mouth, muffling my sounds.

He carries me out of the warehouse and shoves me in the back of a car. There's another man sitting beside me, holding a gun to my head. “Put this around your eyes,” he demands, tossing me a bandana. With staggered breaths, I wrap the cloth around my eyes and then my hands are bound together.

“Why is he breathing like that?” an annoyed voice asks.

“Who the fuck knows. Just drive. We said we'd deliver the kid and that's what we're doing.”

“We also said we'd deliver him alive. Check if he's injured anywhere.”
