This took me aback, but then I grinned. I wanted to take her on many more adventures.

“I did just save the day, miss,” I told her.

“Who are you calling ‘miss’?” she laughed, giving me a hope I hadn’t had in a long, long time. She then pushed me.

“We haven’t even made it to the barn,” I said, grabbing her and giving her a good hard kiss.

I don’t know what got into me, but I had to have her, then and there. She wanted the same and later, when we finally made it to the barn house, we spent more time exploring each other.

There was no denying it—I was an incredibly lucky man. I knew that Braden Reed wasn’t going to be happy about me running off, and I was sure they now had a price on my head. None of that mattered more than Emma.

EMMA

Jack was a ravenous lover. He couldn’t get enough of me, nor I of him. As we had preparations for a private plane, Jack went over our safety protocols.

I was stark naked however, and he was having trouble with his words.

“We have to be careful, any misstep could….” Jack trailed off as he forgot his words.

“Kill us?” I giggled. This guy was all about me.

There was so much that grabbed my heart about our escape, and I couldn’t wait for more. The most exciting thing? Not knowing what would happen next, knowing that, at any moment, Jack would have to drop everything to keep me safe.

“Yes,” he said, looking pained. “If anything were to happen to you, I’d be devastated.”

“Calm down, you’ve barely known me,” I said, briefly messing with him. The stern look on his face reminded me just how serious he was. It was cute.

He kissed me, then gave me a smug look. “Oh, I’ve gotten to know you.”

I blushed and gave him a playful slap on the shoulders.

“Can I get us ready now?”

“Go ahead,” I said.

Jack went over everything, from what to do if someone found us, to what to look for as we took to the skies.

To my surprise, Jack didn’t know where he was taking us.

“We’ll fly to New York,” he told me, but I could tell he didn’t want to stay there. Neither did I.

“It’s not my scene,” I said about New York. “I think I’m done with cityscapes.”

Jack nodded. “Well, we can decide along the way. Right now, we have to get as far away as we can. New York is the perfect place for us to blend in to get out of the country.”

I hadn’t thought much of it, but I couldn’t believe what he was saying. I was literally being whisked away to a foreign land.

Of course, our escape wasn’t entirely glamorous. We were still in hiding from the Reeds, and Jack explained that he most likely had a bounty on his head. It was a good thing that he had good friends in the area, one of whom had a small plane.

“It’ll get you two to just a few miles outside of New York, but you’re on your own after that,” said Jack’s friend. Jack handed him his watch and the man said, “I could have a car waiting for you there.”

Jack took off his golden necklace, passed it to him, and said, “Two one way tickets. To Frankfurt.”

After the man nodded, I tried wrapping my head around our destination. It was too…European. I almost said something to Jack, but he was in no mood to talk.

We were driven to the small hangar with the man’s private plane, and I balked at how tiny it was. Jack was all business as he got us in.
